Cordae has been having a major run in 2024 and is set to top the year off with the release of his highly anticipated fourth studio album titled The Crossroads. The rapper has dropped a total of three singles this year which many believe were dropped as part of the LP's official rollout.
The announcement of The Crossroads' forthcoming release was unveiled alongside a new record titled Mad As F*ck, which was delivered to streaming platforms on October 11, 2024, via Atlantic Recording Corporation. Cordae's third single was released alongside an official music video directed by Wax Bando and shot by A Plus Filmz.
The sharp lyricist's latest record finds him working alongside producers Darko, Elkan and Smoko Ono, who came together to deliver an upbeat trap production, fueled by Cordae's bouncy rhyme schemes and bars, few of which allude to the 2024 rap beef.
"I don't f--k with these rap n----s, I think all of y'all some ho-s (Huh) / Feel like crashin' out like K. Dot if a n---a impose (What's good?) / Tryna steal all the sauce n---a, tryna take a young n---a flows (Huh?) / Why you mad? I don't f--kin' know" - Cordae raps on 'Mad As F*ck'.
Although not much is known about The Crossroads' potential tracklist, the album's listing on Apple Music confirms the rapper's upcoming studio album will host 17 full-length records, which will also include the three singles already released.
Everything we know about Cordae's 'The Crossroads' album rollout
Grammy-nominated rapper Cordae Amari Brooks' upcoming fourth studio album rollout seemingly began with the release of his impressive collaboration with Lil Wayne on the track titled Saturday Mornings.
On Saturday Mornings, Brooks teams up with Smoko Ono and BoogzDaBeast to compose an anthemic, soulful, production. The composition was carried by Lil Wayne's intricate and expert rhyme schemes, filled with interesting bars like:
"You sweet as jelly-jam, honey glazed deli ham / Bubblegum candy yams, my gun never jam / I got a heavy hand, but hold it like a Steadicam / Am I talking to the martians when I pray, man? I need to know is there a heaven or just Space Jam? / And it's Saturday morning every day, man / Young Carter and Cordae, man, all day, man"
The record was released alongside an official music video featuring Cordae and Lil Wayne, which was uploaded to the rapper's YouTube channel a day after Saturday Morning's streaming release on July 24, 2024.
Following up on his Jazzy collaboration with Lil Wayne and continuing with his upbeat "summery vibe," Brooks delivered a fresh new record titled Summer Drop featuring frequent collaborator and close friend Anderson Paak.
Cordae's Summer Drop was released to all major streaming platforms on August 28, 2024. With lyricism and flows that explore the artist's musicality and storytelling abilities, notable bars from the rapper's second lead single include lines like:
"I worked at the barbershop / I swept up the hair from under the chair, couldn't talk a lot / I saved up the whole summer, that's how I got school clothes / I bought some Puma's and some fake chains, that was fools gold / My n---a, what you know about those hot summers? No air condition / My n----s got rare ambition, but pain impaired division / I done lost so many homies, in summers I cherish livin'"
For the production of Summer Drop, Brooks approached producer Kelsey González to lead the composition of the track's jazz-inspired instrumental alongside J. Cole.
The track was released alongside an official music video, directed by SAMBA DIOP, uploaded to the rapper's YouTube channel a day after Summer Drop's streaming release.
With the oncoming release of his highly anticipated The Crossroads, Cordae is gearing up to deliver an electrifying new project in an attempt to solidify his status in modern hip-hop.
The upcoming LP will officially follow up on the rapper's 2022 project From A Bird's Eye View, which was released on January 14 and debuted at No. 13 on Billboard's 200 album chart.
