On November 7, Halle Bailey made headlines after she deactivated her X account. This move came after she criticized her former boyfriend and baby's father, DDG, on the platform for taking their 10-month-old son Halo to the November 6 Mafiathon 2 Twitch live stream of Kai Cenat, which was later shared to YouTube.
“Hi everyone. Just so you know, I am out of town and I don’t approve of my baby being on a stream tonight. I wasn’t told or notified and I am extremely upset to have my baby in front of millions of people. I am his mother and protector and saddened that I wasn’t notified especially when I am out of town,” Halle wrote on X.
Hours later, she deactivated her accounts on both X and Instagram, seemingly after facing backlash for her tweet. In the wake of this development, netizens are now having diverse reactions. For instance, Instagram user @uadorelai commented on The Shade Room’s post about the same, writing:
“D*mn, y’all done put Ariel back in the ocean.”
In the comment, the user was referring to Halle’s breakout role as Ariel in the 2023 Disney musical fantasy film The Little Mermaid.
Many joined the conversation and shared their reactions on X.
“Halle Bailey deactivated because weaponizing her fanbase against DDG didn’t work LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO,” a person wrote.
“Halle deleted her account. Girl, it was never that serious you should’ve just texted your baby daddy,” one person wrote.
“Halle Bailey is such a bird brain I’m sorry, trying to weaponize her son against his daddy and when the public opinion isn’t on your side deactivating,” wrote another.
Meanwhile, other users defended the Angel singer.
“Halle deactivated her account because of DDG fans yikes, having to co-parent with a man-child is the worst,” a fan wrote.
“Halle has deactivated her Instagram and Twitter accounts. We’re sending her lots of love and positive energy her way!” another fan wrote.
“I understand why Halle Bailey deactivated. I would absolutely hate Twitter as a celeb. Even your own fanbase will bully you over your personal choices and preferences. The energy is so weird and negative,” a netizen commented.
“See the social media Halle deactivated, I think she should have done this a while ago for her mental health. People here are mean mean and I think GenZ celebs don’t get it. They’re so eager to share and people are also so eager to be mean,” added another.
Subsequently, DDG has indirectly addressed the matter via a short clip on Instagram. He shared that his life lesson was to "keep going," no matter what.
Meanwhile, Bailey, while discussing her postpartum depression on Snapchat last month, shared how she undergoes “crippling anxiety” when she goes on work trips without her son. She even sought “advice for moms who still can’t handle” being away from their baby, while traveling alone.
Exploring Halle Bailey and DDG’s relationship
Halle Bailey and DDG began dating in December 2021. However, they made their relationship public the following year. In June 2022, they made their red carpet debut as a couple at the BET Awards. Following this, they attended award shows, movie premieres, concerts, sports matches, and fashion weeks together.
In December 2023, they became parents to their son Halo, whom they introduced to the world the following month. Subsequently, they shared pictures with their baby from their Europe vacations.
However, in October 2024, the couple announced their break-up with their fans. Taking to his Instagram story, DDG wrote:
“Dear friends and supporters, After much reflection and heartfelt conversations, Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways. The decision was not easy, but we believe it's the best path forward for both of us. I cherish the time we've spent together and the love we shared.”
He further continued by saying that their love and friendship would remain intact even after the split, adding that they would co-parent Halo while focusing on their “individual journeys.”
Meanwhile, Halle Bailey told E! News recently how her priority was her baby and “self-love.”
