Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently revealed on Instagram that he fathered a child outside his marriage to wife Jordyn Blum. In a statement shared on September 11, 2024, Grohl disclosed the birth of a daughter outside of their two-decade-long marriage, expressing his commitment to regaining his family's trust.

"I plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness," Grohl wrote, adding, "We're grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together."

The 55-year-old rock icon did not reveal details about the child’s mother or further specifics regarding the situation.

Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum got married on August 2, 2003, in the presence of their friends and family at their Los Angeles residence. Their wedding ceremony was graced by stars like music producer Clive Davis and Grohl’s former group mate Krist Novoselic setting the foundation for their enduring marriage.

Together, they have three daughters, Violet Maye born in 2006, Harper Willow born in 2009, and Ophelia Saint born in 2014. However, the couple has maintained a relatively private and discreet life despite their celebrity status.

Jordyn Blum, a former model and MTV producer is known for her private nature. Her involvement in Grohl’s professional life has been minimal, although she did make an appearance in the music video for the Foo Fighters track White Limo in 2011, alongside late Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister.

Blum and Dave Grohl first crossed paths in 2001 at the Whiskey Bar of the Sunset Marquis Hotel in Los Angeles. In an interview with ELLE in 2007 Grohl admitted he had gone on several dates with Blum but felt he was not ready for a commitment and stopped calling her.

Finally, after three months, Grohl felt he had had enough and called Blum to which she was astonished, "Oh, I never thought I'd hear from you again."

Dave Grohl in an interview with The Guardian, in the year 2007 mentioned that his wife and his first daughter were his balancing factor in that they kept him grounded by saying that,

"[My wife] Jordyn and [daughter] Violet are anchors that keep me from completely disappearing."

Dave Grohl has often shared glimpses into his family life. The family came out into the public limelight only once in 2023, at the 2023 Grammy Awards for Grohl, where Blum and the children, Violet, Harper, and Ophelia were seen hugging Grohl on the red carpet. The couple was also seen in a match at Wimbledon in July 2024 with other celebrities seated in the Royal Box.

In his September 2024 statement, Dave Grohl admitted to welcoming a fourth child outside of his marriage. While he did not offer further details about the new child, Grohl emphasized his focus on healing his relationship with Blum and his daughters.

Though Dave Grohl is happily married, he was earlier married to Jennifer Leigh Youngblood in 1994 but the couple divorced in 1997. In past interviews, Grohl has acknowledged that infidelity contributed to the dissolution of that marriage.

Foo Fighters have been touring in support of their latest album But Here We Are, which was released in 2023. The band has one upcoming performance scheduled for the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on September 29, 2024.
