Actor Denzel Washington reportedly confronted rapper Sean "Diddy" Combs at an all-night party back in 2003. On Wednesday, October 2, 2024, Us Weekly published an article citing a source close to the rapper in the early 2000s. As per the source, at one point during the argument, Washington screamed, "You don't respect anyone."
While it remains unclear what sparked the disagreement, the insider claimed that the incident ended with the Oscar-winning actor storming off.
"(Denzel and his wife, Pauletta) had been partying until dawn (with Diddy), and they had seen something and stormed out," US Weekly reported.
Despite this, the two personalities remained friends and were seen together at various public events, including games and even Barack Obama's 2009 inauguration.
The news comes after the Bad Boy Entertainment founder's recent arrest on charges of racketeering, s*x trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Texas lawyer announced representing 120 new alleged victims of Diddy, including minors
In light of Diddy's recent indictment, Texas Lawyer Tony Buzbee announced representing 120 new alleged victims, of which 25 were minors at the time of the reported assault, the youngest being a 9-year-old boy. In a press conference, the attorney explained that his clients, who are scattered across the U.S., came forward following the music mogul's arrest.
Buzbee claimed more minors were yet to be filed. He said he also wants to expose those who "enabled" the rapper for so long but wants to be "damn sure" before naming them.
Diddy's arrest stems from a federal s*x trafficking investigation after several lawsuits claiming r*pe and abuse were filed against the rapper (including his ex, Cassie Ventura's suit from November 2023).
The investigations led to the authorities raiding the musician's properties in Los Angeles and Miami. The raids resulted in officers reportedly seizing AR-15 rifles, large-capacity magazines, and 1000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant.
One of the points made in the indictment references Combs' "freak off" parties, where he allegedly "abused, threatened, and coerced women and others" to participate in s**xual activities for the enjoyment of him and his guests.
Diddy is known in the industry for hosting lavish soirees that are frequented by A-list celebrities. Denzel Washington was one of the guests at Diddy's 40th birthday bash at New York’s Plaza Hotel in 2009, which many hail as the "party of the century."
In light of the news, comedian Brandon T. Jackson's appearance on the Breaking the Machine podcast earlier this year went viral. In the episode, Jackson recalled the advice Denzel Washington shared with him, asking him to leave the Hollywood parties "before the devil gets there."
"Denzel always told me, (when) we be at the parties, ‘You leave 30 minutes before the devil get there. OK?’ Always remember that Denzel would leave the parties early," Jackson said.
Jackson is not the only celebrity to speak up about leaving Combs' parties early. Weeks before his arrest, actor and comedian Marlon Wayans, in his sitdown with Club Shay Shay, admitted to attending the parties but clarified that he left early and, hence, wasn't aware of any nefarious activities happening.
Emily Wolff from the rapper's legal team "emphatically and categorically" denied all allegations against her client. After being denied bail twice, Combs is being held at a Brooklyn Detention Center awaiting trial. If convicted, he faces 15 years to life imprisonment.
