On December 20, a rumor began circulating online that American actor-singer Addison Rae allegedly announced that her official fandom name would be called “Raecists.” It was first claimed by Drop Pop (@DropPopNet) on the social media platform X. The post read:
“Addison Rae announces her official fandom name: "Raecists”.”
The X post, which uploaded a picture of the He's All That star, garnered severe traction online. In less than 24 hours, it had garnered over 5 million views.
However, the now-viral claim has turned out to be fake as Rae made no such announcements. Moreover, one should also note that Drop Pop is a parody account, which is known for its fake news. Even its bio reads:
“Parody account, everything posted on the account is satirical and for humorous purposes, our posts are not meant to be taken seriously. DM for removal, enquiries, etc… (Owned by POC).”
In fact, as per AccessAddison, an X page dedicated to the star, Rae allegedly confirmed on October 28 that her fandom name is “Sunraes”.
Addison Rae is a successful actor, singer, and businesswoman
As per Her Campus’ July 29, 2021 post, Addison Rae’s followers are called Sunraes, and the social media star has a large number of Sunrae fan accounts on TikTok. However, the majority of the videos posted by these fan accounts are fan edits, and none of the people behind them display their faces or identities.
Rae gained an incredible social media following after she joined TikTok as a joke in 2019. She started by posting a babysitting video and after the video went viral, Addison became well-known. Following that, she kept uploading videos. Then thousands of people recreated them, and her account amassed millions of followers.
Within a year, Forbes Magazine declared Addison Rae the world's highest-paid TikToker in August 2020. Rae was recruited to WME in January 2020 after her quick success caught the interest of multiple talent agencies.
Rae was then chosen to voice Marnie in the animated movie Spy Cat in 2020. The Netflix Original He's All That, a gender-flipped remake of the 1999 movie She's All That, featured Addison in the lead role for the first time in 2021.
Rae also starred in Eli Roth's Slasher film Thanksgiving in 2023 where she played a key role. Later, Deadline also confirmed on May 12, 2023, that Rae would be starring in the 2025 film Animal Friends with Jason Momoa and Ryan Reynolds.
Apart from being an actor, she is also a singer. With the release of her first single track, Obsessed, in March 2021, Addison Rae made her musical debut. The dance-pop song succeeded at number four on New Zealand's Hot Singles chart.
Additionally, it also appeared on the UK Independent Singles Chart, the Irish Singles Chart, the Canadian Hot 100, and the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles. Then, in August 2024, she released another single, Diet Pepsi. With this, Rae achieved official Billboard Hot 100 charting status.
Aquamarine, a follow-up that cemented Rae's new musical and artistic epoch, came right after this. Now, she is set to collaborate with singer-songwriter Maya Rosalia on another song for a big-budget Motion Picture movie in 2025.
Rae also tried her luck in business when she started her own cosmetics brand, Item Beauty, in 2020. The collection included a range of makeup products, such as moisturizers, lip oils, cleaning balms, skin mist, and concealers.
Shortly after this, Rae announced her plans to start her fragrance brand on social media in 2021. She developed the agents in close collaboration with other perfumers and the line sold $14 million in its first year.
Inspired by mood rings, Addison Rae Fragrance, or ARF has created four scents since 2021, each with a color-changing bottle. The perfumes also have unique names like Chill AF, Happy AF, Hyped AF, and Passionate AF.
Now, following the recent rumors, Rae hasn’t said anything as of yet.
