Hip-hop influencer DJ Akademiks recently called Jay-Z (originally named Shawn Carter) a "cutthroat assassin" during a live stream on his YouTube channel on December 17, 2024. The influencer's comments came after Hov's lawyer denied his alleged involvement with Sean Diddy Combs.

In his YouTube stream, DJ Akademiks praised Jay-Z for being a "cutthroat assassin" and "cold ni**a" because the rapper denied being friends with Diddy.

“One thing I mind about Jay Z, I told you, Jay’s a cold n***a and I like that about him. Yo, you n***as caught tight, this be the Black community… Jay’s my mess. Yo, one thing I f*ck with Jay for is a cold n***a, a cutthroat assassin. Okay?”

Netizens took to X to react to DJ Akademiks' latest comments on Jay-Z and Diddy.

"Diddy is cutthroat too. He like THAT, or nah...?," one X user said.
"Jay is not cold and cutthroat—it’s called bi****ssness!!!," another user jibed.
""You wanna buy this btxh?" Ak funny as hell," a fan opined.
"He already helped him with this case. What more is he supposed to do?," a netizen remarked.

Fans continued to share their thoughts on Akademiks' reaction to the matter:

"AK gonna have to start paying SAS for use of his likeness," an X user joked.
"Jay got his crew a friends he be with and rap about everybody else is just business never personal," a netizen claimed.
"Diddy threw his own artist under the bus to save himself, he’d do the same if the roles were reversed," a fan alleged.

DJ Akademiks' comments came after Jay-Z's lawyer, Alex Spiro, denied any close ties of his client with rapper Sean Diddy Combs despite the two being named as co-defendants in a lawsuit. Diddy and Hov were accused of the s*xual assault of a 13-year-old girl in 2000 earlier this month.

"There is no closer association"— Jay-Z's lawyer Alex Spiro denies the Roc Nation founder's association with Sean Diddy Combs

On December 16, 2024, Jay-Z's attorney, Alex Spiro, denied his client's alleged association with rapper Sean Diddy Combs. Federal agents in New York City arrested the latter in September 2024 on three charges of s*x trafficking and racketeering.

Since his arrest, reports of the Roc Nation founder's alleged close association with Sean Combs have been doing the rounds. Multiple conspiracy theories about the same also cropped up. In a lawsuit dated December 8, 2024, an anonymous victim accused Jay and Diddy of r*ping and s*xually assaulting them at an MTV VMA afterparty in 2000. They were allegedly 13 years old at that time.

In light of the accusations against Jay-Z, his attorney, Alex Spiro, claimed the rapper has no association with Sean Combs. In an official statement to US Weekly on December 16, Spiro said:

"Mr. Carter has nothing to do with Mr. Combs’ case or Mr. Combs. They knew each other professionally for a number of years. Just like in all professions, people know each other. At the music awards, they support each other. If you go to the NBA All-Star game, they support each other. That’s just how professions work. There is no closer association between any of them. That’s also a matter of fiction.
“Mr. Carter doesn’t know anything about the charges or allegations against [Diddy]. He has nothing to do with that case and there’s nothing more to say.”

The aforementioned lawsuit accusing Hov and Diddy of r*pe and assault was originally filed in October 2024. At that time, it only included Combs' name. However, the lawsuit was refiled by attorney Tony Buzbee in December after including Carter's (aka Jay) name.

According to reports by US Weekly, Jay-Z's attorney gave a long presentation to point out alleged inconsistencies in the victim's reported story. He denied all charges on his client.

"It's obvious to everybody that Mr. Carter did not do this. Obviously, Jay-Z did not r*pe a child. But what I wanna do today is just sort of walk you through some of this so that you can see the truth and you can see what happened yourselves," Spiro said as he gave a presentation.

After Alex Spiro's roundtable, Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee refuted his claim that the allegations were "baseless." Buzbee maintained that they would "continue to vet her [the anonymous client] claims," and he that she was ready to submit a polygraph as well.

Buzbee added that they would "not be bullied" by Spiro's claims and that they had conducted enough verification on their client's claims before naming Jay in the lawsuit.

The charges against Jay-Z have yet to be proven in a court of law, and further development of the case will provide more clarity. Meanwhile, his co-defendant, Sean Diddy Combs, is currently under custody at the Metropolitan Detention Center, and his trial is due in May 2025.
