Sean "Diddy" Combs, who is currently held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC), may have reportedly stopped eating in prison for fear of being poisoned. According to News Nation, a source close to the rapper claimed as per former inmate Larry Levine that Diddy was "paranoid" and "scared" that someone was going to poison him.
“There’s people out there that he has things on that do have a substantial amount of money. Imagine if someone paid someone off on the inside to actually poison his food, give him a heart attack and he dies, and no one would really think anything of it. So that may be one of the reasons he’s not eating,” Levine told News Nation.
The former inmate added the other reasons for Diddy reportedly not eating include a hunger strike or bad food in the prison. He said the food at the MDC was very bland and included "a lot of carbohydrates."
"There’s mold in a lot of that food, the food coming to him is cold. It’s not coming to him warm like it would be in a regular housing unit, because they feed the people in the shoe last. Maybe he got sick from the food. That’s another possibility,” Levine added.
On September 16, Sean "Diddy" Combs was arrested on charges of "racketeering conspiracy, s*x trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution." This came six months after Homeland Security raided his LA and Miami mansions on March 25 and found evidence of events referred to as "freak offs."
The "freak offs" were described as "elaborate and produced s*x performances" allegedly orchestrated by Diddy, in which he coerced women to have s*x with male escorts. The indictment alleged that the women were often drugged using ketamine, cocaine, and oxycodone, and the "freak offs" were recorded without their consent.
What was Diddy's first meal at the MDC?
According to a report from The New York Post, Diddy will be given three meals per day at the Metropolitan Detention Center. His first meal after his arraignment was Swedish meatballs. His other option was a black bean burger, which he reportedly refused. His sides reportedly included egg noodles, a garden salad, green beans and a 16 oz beverage.
Combs is reportedly held in the MDC's Special Housing Unit (SHU). His meals are delivered to his cell and he is allowed one hour of recreation time per day. He is also permitted three weekly showers. According to People Magazine, the rapper was in "shock" after being denied bail and is reportedly on su*cide watch as a preventative measure.
The Metropolitan Detention Center has previously housed high-profile inmates like R. Kelly, convicted of child sexual abuse, and Ghislaine Maxwell, an associate of Jeffrey Epstein. Inmates refer to the prison as "hell on earth" due to its poor maintenance, with issues like overflowing toilets, moldy showers, and infestations of cockroaches and mice.
Currently, the MDC reportedly holds 1,600 inmates and is known for its dangerous conditions. In June, inmate Uriel Whyte was fatally stabbed while awaiting trial, and in July, Edwin Cordero died in a jail fight. Several inmates have also died by suicide in the past three years.
On September 17, Marc Agnifilo, Diddy's lawyer, asked the judge to allow his client to be shifted to another prison, saying that the MDC was "not fit for pre-trial detention." He also expressed his disappointment at what he believed was "an unjust prosecution" of the rapper. In a statement to The Mirror US after Diddy's arrest, he said:
“We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean “Diddy” Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community."
On September 17, Diddy was denied bail after pleading not guilty. The following day, Agnifilo appealed the no-bail order but was denied again. The rapper's next hearing is scheduled for 2 pm on October 9, 2024.
