Texas attorney Tony Buzbee is reportedly representing around 120 of Diddy's alleged victims. The lawyer claimed that many of the rapper's A-list friends are looking to settle out of court to avoid public lawsuits.
Buzbee spoke to TMZ on October 7, 2024, and said that he sent a demand letter to several celebrities who allegedly had ties to Diddy's scandals. He told the publication that he asked the celebrities to settle privately.
Tony Buzbee claimed that several famous names had already settled with their alleged victims. According to The Daily Mail, the attorney said that in "cases like this [Diddy's]," they try to "resolve the matters" without filing a public lawsuit.
“In every single case, especially cases like this… because it’s in the best interests of the victim, we attempt to resolve these matters without the filing of a public lawsuit and we’ve done that already with a handful of individuals, many of which you’ve heard of before,” he added.
In a press conference on October 1, 2024, Tony Buzbee said that he was representing more than 120 alleged victims who accused Sean "Diddy" Combs. These accusers had made allegations of various kinds of abuse against the rapper, and 25 of them were reportedly minors, at the time of the alleged assault. It is also worth noting that one of the alleged victims was nine years old.
Diddy continues to deny the allegations, with his legal team calling the new allegations "meritless." In a statement to ABC13, Erica Wolff, Combs' lawyer, said that the rapper "cannot address every meritless allegation" in a "reckless media circus."
Wolff added that the rapper is looking forward to "proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court." She said that the truth will be "established based on evidence, not speculation," in court.
"That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors," Erica Wolff said.
Tony Buzbee promised to "aggressively" go after everyone who covered for Diddy
According to the New York Post, Tony Buzbee said that he was willing to "aggressively" go after the people who covered up Diddy's alleged abuses. Tony noted that the people who saw what was happening behind closed doors and refused to speak up were also a problem.
He went on to say that a lot of people saw "this activity going on" and "allowed" it to happen without saying anything or intervening. He claimed that all of these people had exposure but chose not to use it.
Buzbee noted that while people wanted to know the names of several celebrities involved with Diddy's alleged s*xual assaults, he will not name anyone this week. The attorney acknowledged the "firestorm" exposing these celebrities would bring, saying he and his team wanted to get their facts checked before pointing fingers.
In his interview with TMZ, Buzbee also added that his team has been fielding thousands of calls from people claiming to be Diddy's alleged victims. He said he wanted to do his due diligent cross-checking of people's statements before adding them to the growing list of victims.
The first batch of lawsuits will reportedly be filed this week, focusing on the "corporate entities" that aided the rapper's alleged crimes.
Diddy is expected at court tomorrow
Sean Combs was arrested on September 16, 2024 on s*x trafficking, racketeering, and prostitution charges. During his arraignment hearing on September 17, the rapper was denied bail. He is held at the Metropolitan Detention Center and is expected in court for his next hearing on October 9.
In his indictment, Combs was accused of drugging and forcing women to engage in elaborate s*x performances with male escorts, in what is being termed as "freak offs." These alleged events were filmed and often used as blackmail to silence victims. Electronic evidence of the "freak offs" was allegedly discovered when his homes were raided in March 2024.
Authorities also seized guns, drugs and 1000 bottles of baby oil from his homes. Marc Agnifilo maintained that his client was innocent, adding that the people involved in the "freak offs" were consenting adults.
In addition to his federal charges and 120 new accusers, Diddy also faced a dozen lawsuits from several people accusing him of abuse, r*pe and assault. The first suit was filed by his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
She accused him of r*pe and a decade-long pattern of abuse in November 2023. While the rapper denied the allegations, a 2016 video of him assaulting Ventura was uncovered in May 2024.
