Renowned music journalist Touré recently made claims about music mogul Sean Diddy Combs, alleging that the producer and rapper's 15-year battle with drug addiction played a central role in his infamous "Freak Off" parties.
On September 23, 2024, music journalist Touré sat down with TMZ. In their live session, Touré reflected on the Combs' Freak Off parties, alleged drug use, the rapper's early days, and more.
"Friends are telling me there's been about 15 years of hardcore drug abuse, you know, anything that he can get his hands on that are detaching him from who he really is," Touré said.
The statement came after the Diddy was arrested on Monday, September 16, 2024, on charges of s*x trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. A major development followed his arrest when law enforcement agencies seized videotapes from the notorious "Freak Off" parties.
During a press conference, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York confirmed the discovery of the tapes, which reportedly contained recordings of various alleged illegal activities.
Touré alleges Diddy's decade-long drug use led to 'Freak Off' gatherings
On Monday, in an interview with TMZ, music journalist Touré reflected on Diddy's alleged drug use and his involvement in the notorious "Freak Off" parties. Touré suggested that Diddy's decision to host these explicit gatherings and record participants may have been a result of his long-term drug addiction, which impaired his judgment and left him in an altered state of mind.
"So when you think about why did you make such bad decisions to do these parties with so many people to videotape them... well, that's because he's been dealing with drug addiction and his mind being clouded and he's not in his right self," Touré said.
Touré further highlighted the early years of Sean Combs' career, noting that he was not always involved in such behavior. He described Combs in his early career as being very "strategic" and possessing a "sharp" mind.
"Uh, you know, he was extremely sharp, motivational, uh, you know, very strategic in the first couple decades when he was rising. The last 15 years has been a haze of drug abuse, and that's why he is making such horrendous decisions," Touré added.
Following Diddy's arrest last Monday, Damian Williams, the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York, disclosed several details regarding the alleged "Freak Off" party recordings.
During a press conference, Williams stated that the video footage allegedly shows the involvement of multiple commercial s*x workers and the use of various drugs, including narcotics. These revelations form a critical part of the ongoing investigation into the controversial gatherings.
"[Diddy] electronically recorded [the freak offs]. The freak offs sometimes lasted days at a time, involved multiple commercial s*x workers and often involved a variety of narcotics, such as ketamine, ecstasy and GHB, which Combs distributed to the victims to keep them obedient and compliant," Williams told the press.
Additionally, the United States Attorney suggested that Combs has allegedly used "embarrassing and sensitive recordings" against the victims for numerous reasons. He stated that law enforcement seized the "Freak Off" party recordings, which reportedly contain videos and images of the victims, from Combs' residence in Los Angeles and Miami during raids conducted in March.
According to XXL, speculation surrounding the videotape recordings was fueled online after producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones filed a lawsuit against Combs in February 2024, accusing him of s*xual assault. Lil Rod also alleged that Combs had hidden cameras in every room of his house. He further suggested that Combs has a recording of numerous artists engaging in activities at Combs' high-profile gatherings.
Combs, who has pleaded not guilty, faces racketeering charges related to allegations that he has been involved in such activities since 2008. Federal judge Robyn Tarnofsky in New York denied his bail, and the rapper is currently being held in the Special Housing Unit in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
