On Monday, August 26, Sean "Diddy" Combs requested the federal court in New York to dismiss Rodney "Lid Rod" Jones's $30 million s*xual misconduct lawsuit against him.
The rapper-mogul fired back against Jones after the latter alleged that he was forced to engage in s*xual acts and was drugged and groped while he was working for the Bad Boy mogul. In their motion to dismiss, Diddy's legal team alleged that the producer's suit was full of "legally meaningless allegations and blatant falsehoods."
Per court documents, the tycoon's lawyers claim:
"[Jones's filing was an effort to] dress up a run-of-the-mill commercial disagreement as a salacious RICO conspiracy. Running to nearly 100 pages, it includes countless tall tales, shameless celebrity namedrops, and irrelevant images."
The motion also accused Lil Rod and his lawyer of filing the lawsuit to "generate media hype" and squeeze out a settlement.
Diddy's lawyer calls Lil Rod's allegations against the rapper-mogul "pure fiction"
In line with Diddy's camp asking the court to throw out Lil Rod's lawsuit against him, the rapper-mogul's attorney, Erica Fox, shared a statement denying the producer's claims. In an interview with Fox News Digital published on August 26, 2024, Fox noted:
"Mr. Jones's lawsuit is pure fiction—a shameless attempt to create media hype and extract a quick settlement. There was no RICO conspiracy and Mr. Jones was not threatened, groomed, assaulted, or trafficked."
Fox added that the Bad Boy mogul's camp is looking forward to proving in a court of law that all of Lil Rod's previous s*xual misconduct claims are "made-up and must be dismissed."
The latest filing came after Lil Rod accused the tycoon of s*xually assaulting him and forcing him to do s*xual acts with pr**titutes in a lawsuit filed in February. He amended his complaint the following month, adding that Diddy Combs is part of a "s*x trafficking venture." Besides the allegations against the mogul, Lil Rod's lawsuit also asks for $30 million in damages.
Lil Rod previously worked as a music producer for the rapper-mogul on his album The Love Album: Off The Grid, claiming he lived with the latter for extended periods while working together. At that time, he alleged the I'll Be Missing You musician of unsolicited groping and touching him s*xually without his consent.
This isn't the first time Lil Rod has dragged a high-profile figure into a s*xual misconduct lawsuit. In January 2023, he filed a suit against Cuba Gooding Jr., claiming that he was "s*xually harassing and assaulting" him while at Diddy's yacht party in the US Virgin Islands.
In the suit, Lid Rod noted that despite rejecting Gooding Jr.'s advances, he didn't stop groping him until he "forcibly pushed him away." He also accused the tycoon of neglect after he "failed to stop Cuba Gooding Jr." from s*xually assaulting him on a property he owned.
