On Sunday, January 12, 2025, GloRilla shared an Instagram story featuring a video of herself talking about why she was single. The rapper, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, first found success with her 2022 single, FNF. Since then, she has released two mixtapes, two EPs, two compilation albums, and finally, her debut studio project last year.
In her Instagram story, the Let Her Cook rapper said:
"I ain’t got no n**ga because I’m such a real n**ga myself, and you n**gas be b**ches."
In essence, her answer seemed to signify that GloRilla considered her own energy more masculine than the men she had met. Per a Rap-Up article, the 25-year-old went on to curse the men who she felt had played with her, claiming that she wasn't afraid to let any of them know.
A short clip of her story was later uploaded on X by @SaycheeseDGTL and has since gone viral, receiving over 1.6 million views and 12K likes. Netizens have had strong reactions to it, with one of them commenting:
"Didn't she just have a baby?"
For the unversed, the comment refers to an Instagram post that GloRilla uploaded on October 24, 2024. The TGIF rapper was posing with a baby bump in a mirror selfie, which was later revealed to be fake by Billboard.
In other comments, some netizens criticized the rapper, saying her comments stemmed from frustration.
"No man wants a woman thats constantly calling them out their name..." commented an X user.
"Yeah, someone pissed her off," posted another one.
"this is not a flex tf," wrote a third one.
Meanwhile, in other comments, social media users called GloRilla's lifestyle to be incompatible with a healthy relationship.
"She's single because she is so toxic, her energy would only get a man who wouldn't treat her well. She wouldn't treat the man well neither, so what's the point? Besides, she is in an industry that isn't conducive to be in any committed relationship," replied a fourth user.
"She does not need to explain to us why she's single. We all know," commented a fifth one.
"This lifestyle, by its nature, is incompatible with a healthy relationship. Also, saying this in public also negatively affects young women who look up to her," posted a sixth one.
GloRilla said she wanted kids through surrogacy
GloRilla's comment about why she remains single comes months after the Sticky rapper talked about her views on having a baby in an interview with Charlamagne Tha God. In her Out of Context interview dated October 14, 2024, GloRilla said:
"I do want to have kids, but not my own kids. I want to do a surrogate. I want somebody else to have my baby. I want them to have my DNA, but I don’t want to have it."
Then, revealing the reason behind not wanting to be pregnant herself, the 25-year-old said:
"I just don’t want to actually have a baby… All my friends have kids, and they’re restricted a lot when they’re pregnant. I’m like, ‘Nah, I don’t want to go through that.'"
GloRilla dropped her debut studio album, Glorious, in October 2024, which peaked at number 5 on the Billboard 200 album chart. The rapper had a long list of feature guests on the project, including Sexyy Red, Megan Thee Stallion, Latto, Kirk Franklin, T-Pain, Chandler Moore, Kierra Sheard, Muni Long, and Maverick City Music.
GloRilla is set to make her debut on Saturday Night Live (SNL) as a musical guest later this month, on January 18, 2025, with comedian David Chappelle hosting the episode.
