Latto, also known as Alyssa Michelle Stephens, recently addressed her dispute with Ice Spice. Alyssa revealed why she would never engage in a rapping battle with the latter, referring to the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, which has been a trending topic this year.

In an interview with Billboard on July 19, 2024, for their cover story, Alyssa discussed the possibility of a rap battle with Ice Spice, saying:

"If I was to do [a battle], it would have to be with somebody I feel like Imma go tit for tat with. I really don't mean it as shade. Would she even want to do that?"

Latto also stated that while there have been a lot of problems between her and Ice Spice for some time, Ice has never hinted at the fact that she wants to get into a rap battle with her. She continued:

"Everybody gon' take their lil jabs in the music, and it's not even that serious to me; I feel like you should do that. Continue to! But as far as actual whole diss records to each other, I don't think she would even want to do that. I feel like … would it even make sense? It wouldn't."

As soon as Alyssa's interview went viral on different platforms, netizens took to the comments section of The Female Rap Room's post on X to share their response. One of them wrote:

"She's correct. Ice Spice doesn't hold the capacity to creat enough bars for a back and forth rap record dispute."

Alyssa's fans were spotted taking her side in the replies as they reacted to the news:

"She's correct. Ice Spice doesn't hold the capacity to create enough bars for a back and forth rap record dispute," a user wrote.
"Latto said what she said and she's 100% correct," another user wrote.
"Latto is so real for this," one fan commented.

However, some users expressed their dissatisfaction with Alyssa's statement:

"So basically she feel like ice not a real rapper," one fan commented.
"She's trying so hard to ignore the question," an X user reacted.
"Her obsession with Ice Spice is low key scary," another tweet read.

Similar sentiments continued in the comments section:

"She knows Ice will end her and ruin her flop career," a reaction stated.
"Isn't she already going tit for tat with Ice? Smh," one fan tweeted.

Ice Spice and Latto's dispute started back in January last year

The tensions between the two rappers seemingly began in January 2023 when Latto struggled to finish the lyrics of Ice Spice's song Bikini Bottom during an interview with Billboard at a red carpet event. The situation intensified the following month when Alyssa shared a picture on Instagram that resembled Ice Spice.

While netizens criticized Alyssa for this, she responded by posting on X with a screenshot of her Instagram Story, writing:

"Every time y'all accuse me of copying folks ima clear it up. Nun mo nun less. I don't like how y'all take my tweets & make them fit ur weak a*s narratives."

The artists remained silent for the next few months. In October 2023, Latto's collaboration project with Offset, a single titled Fine as Can Be, was released. Some fans interpreted the lyrics as seemingly targeting Ice Spice. The verses stated:

"That n*gga a munch / Yo' bookin' fee, ate it for lunch / I don't do backends, need it up front / I'm big dawg, you b*tches is runts / Don't pull wigs, don't pull stunts / I pull triggers and I pull blunts / I pull cars like it's Tonk / B*tch, you couldn't top me in the bunk."

On January 7, 2024, Alyssa shared a teaser of her upcoming song on social media. The video featured her inside a car with Ice Spice's music in the background. Later that month, Ice Spice released a single titled Think U the Shit (Fart). Although Ice Spice did not claim that the song was targeted at Latto, Alyssa addressed it on X Spaces by saying:

"So I'm like, 'Okay, since we're talking about me, let's talk about me.' I was like, 'This has to be fake – this is AI', but b*tches be bold, so I was like, 'Alright, we're being bold today.'"

Latto seemingly continued the feud last month when she received a cake from her friends after becoming the first woman to headline the Birthday Bash summer concert in Atlanta. The cake had a poop emoji on top, and there was a message at the bottom that stated, "Holy Sh*t, You're Headlining," allegedly aiming at Ice Spice.

While Latto posted a picture of the cake on her official page on X, Ice Spice has yet to respond to the same.
