Azealia Banks recently took to X to express her excitement about DJ Vybz Kartel's upcoming music with Canadian rapper Drake. The DJ revealed he had plans to collaborate with artists like Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Drake during a December interview with Complex following his release from prison in August 2024.
Following this, Azealia Banks said a collaboration between Kartel and Drake could lead to "absolute Toronto/Brooklyn/UK MADNESS." She also threw a jab at Kendrick Lamar by calling him a "very local-brained" artist in her X post uploaded on January 5, 2025.
"Seeeeeeee Drake knows how to f**king moooooove. This is about to be absolute Toronto/Brooklyn/UK MADNESS. Kendrick is a very local brained n***a he literally can’t beat this. Check f**king mate. Good lord. I’m HYPED we missed VYBZ," she wrote.
In a follow-up tweet, Azealia Banks declared, "Drake won," adding the Canadian rapper thought "on a global scale." She continued her shade against Lamar, calling him a "pip squeak," a supposed reference to Drake making fun of Lamar for his stature in his diss track Push Ups.
"Lmao all the old head rap niggas thinking somebody give a fidduck about some played out regional American death trap bulls**t. Drake really thinks on a global scale. Kendrick bout to crawl back in his tom and jerry mouse door on the baseboard and seethe. Nobody careeeeee pip squeak! Yaaaaaaay. Drake won. Game over," she added.
Azealia Banks backed Drake during his beef with Kendrick Lamar
Azealia Banks was one of the few artists who backed Drake during his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar in 2024. Shortly after Lamar released his diss track Euphoria, Banks dubbed the California rapper a "small, fake gangsta nepo" baby in an Instagram Story. She also declared Drake the winner, calling Lamar's song "dumb trash."
She continued her support for the Canadian rapper after he and Lamar released several diss tracks back and forth. According to Billboard, Azealia Banks refuted Lamar's allegations of Drake being a p*dophile (which he mentioned in his track Not Like Us). Banks claimed Lamar harbored an "INTENSE THIRST and unashamed jealousy" over Drake in an Instagram post following the beef.
"The daughter thing is fake, metro makin bbl drizzy beats like Kanye ain't got the fattest bbl in rap. As a fellow Gemini, Kendrick clearly thought this would be a clever way to relaunch himself to the forefront given the lack of pop cultural fanfare from his last release. Women can tell a lot about a man by the way he moves," Azealia Banks added.
According to Vibe, Azealia Banks also praised Drake for filing his legal petitions against UMG, iHeart Radio, and Spotify for Not Like Us, dubbing it a "lethal chess move" in an X post. For the unversed, Drake sued the companies for allegedly "artificially" inflating Not Like Us using bots and payola.
In a second petition, he accused UMG of defamation for not stopping Lamar from releasing Not Like Us after the track supposedly had false allegations of him being a predator. Both of Drake's petitions are ongoing at the time of this article.
In other news, DJ Vybz Kartel also sided with Drake following his rap beef with Kendrick Lamar. Kartel revealed that he was not Lamar's fan during his cover story with Billboard on January 6, 2025.
“I’m not a fan of Kendrick. I don’t even listen to Kendrick, so I wouldn’t know," Kartel said.
He added that Drake was the "bigger and better artist" who was more "in tune with Jamaica and the culture."
