Drake had recently announced a collaborative album with Canadian singer-songwriter PartyNextDoor, aka Jahron Brathwaite, after the former's concert was over on Friday, August 16, 2024. Drake surprised the audience by appearing at the end of PartyNextDoor's performance in Toronto, and said,
"On behalf of me and Party, we’ve been working on something for y’all. So, you get the summer over with, do what you need to do."
As much as it shocked the audience there, netizens too didn't waste time in reacting to the announcement. Recently, another video popped up on the X account of Kurrco, in which Brathwaite could be seen celebrating his new plaque for selling 25 million singles, with Drake.
In the post, the 31-year-old Ontario-born rapper could be seen explaining the plaque to Drake and then hugging him. Netizens flooded the internet with further reactions. Here are some responses:

While several netizens congratulated Brathwaite and also praised his bond with Drake, some had a different perspective. These users believed Drake was the one holding the Ontario rapper back. A netizen wrote,
"Imagine his numbers if Drake ain’t hold him back."
"PND sold like 2x as many record just writing songs for other people, Drake been holding him back," tweeted another user.
"Drake for sure held him back, gave him an extra push sure but that pressure was never applied, Party should’ve been a bigger artist," added a comment made on X.

As mentioned, the two rappers revealed working on an album to release this fall. Fans expressed their excitement after the massive announcement. The bond between Party and Drake goes even before they became label mates at OVO Sound. The rapper had also worked as a co-writer for some of Drake's tracks, like Legend and Elevate.
During the Friday concert, Drake further complimented PartyNextDoor and even described him as the "King of R&B," as reported in an article published by the Royalty Exchange.
Party had mentioned that the collaborative album would be huge for both Canadian rappers. Drake further spoke about the upcoming project and said,
"I know all you girls are outside and when it gets a little chilly, PartyNextDoor and Drake album will be right there for you."
Apart from announcing the future album, Drake performed several songs at Party's concert. His set included tracks like Sweeterman, Redemption, and Finesse. He further performed his 2016 collab with Party, titled Come And See Me. Party's recent concert was reportedly part of his Sorry I'm Outside tour.
