Elle King, the Grammy-nominated singer, revealed on Monday, September 23, that she and her partner, tattoo artist Daniel Tooker, are expecting their second child. The news came through an Instagram reel where the couple, along with their 3-year-old son Lucky Levi, celebrated the gender reveal with blue confetti.
Elle King captioned the post, "Doubling down 💙." On the same day, the singer posted a picture with her son, sharing her happiness and gratitude. The announcement came shortly after her latest musical release, High Road, on September 20, 2024.
Elle King and Dan Tooker first met in 2019
Elle King, 35, and Dan Tooker, 33, first met in 2019 when King went to Tooker's tattoo shop. They became close soon and decided to get engaged in October 2020. In September 2021, the couple had a baby boy, Lucky Levi.
However, by April 2023, rumors about their relationship status surfaced when, at the Stagecoach music festival in California, King wore a jacket with 'single' written on it. This made many speculate that the couple had separated. King confirmed their split but also revealed that they had since reconciled.
Speaking to PEOPLE on September 18, 2024, King said that she and Tooker had recently reconnected after some time, having sorted things out. "We had to grow," King said, adding that their son Lucky played a crucial role in bringing them back together.
"He's definitely brought me and his dad back together just because, what are we doing? We have everything that both of us have ever wanted right here."
Elle King emphasized the importance of family and shared how Lucky's presence encouraged them to give their relationship another chance.
"This is worth trying. This is worth wiping a slate clean," she explained.
In the same September 2024 interview, King told PEOPLE she bought a new home in the mountains of Nashville.
"We just bought a really gorgeous new house in the mountains of Nashville," King shared, "It's happy, it's beautiful. I'm very happy, I'm very content, which is nice, and I don't know if I've ever really felt that, so it's a blessing." She added.
Her new song, High Road, was released on September 20, just days before the gender reveal. This song has aspects reflecting on her life, the changes and struggles she has gone through, and her music career.
The singer has hit songs such as Ex’s & Oh’s, Good Girls, and her 2021 hit Drunk (And I Don’t Want to Go Home) with Miranda Lambert, which peaked in the top 10 of many music charts.
Elle King, who first gained major recognition with her hit single Ex's & Oh's in 2015, has since been nominated for multiple Grammy Awards. Aside from her solo career, King has collaborated with notable artists like Dierks Bentley on the hit song Different for Girls, which won a Country Music Association Award in 2016.
In addition to her music, King has appeared in films such as Daddy Daughter Trip (2023) and Love, Weddings & Other Disasters (2020). She has also co-hosted on Catfish the TV Show for the episodes Alice and Nique and Sasha and Essence in 2019 and 2023, respectively. She continues to perform at major festivals like Stagecoach.
