Eminem, aka Marshall Mathers, recently appeared on Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow season 2 as a guest judge for its fifth episode and reportedly gave a shoutout to Latto. The highlight of the episode was that it was shot in the Houdini rapper's hometown of Detroit, and he was judging the 'Battles' round along with Latto, his longtime friends Royce Da 5’9” and Mr. Porter, and host SMACK.

While talking to Latto, the senior rapper said:

"I love you, by the way. You’re f***ing incredible. I gotta tell you that."

Latto seemingly got extremely excited after getting such a compliment from Marshall. The clip then started circulating on social media platforms and went quite viral. It was reshared by an X page, NFR Podcast (@nfr_podcast), and has gained more than 1.6 million views and over 39k likes as of this writing.

Several netizens flooded the platform and responded to the clip. Many expressed how they liked the way the 52-year-old rapper appreciated Latto. A user (@flowzki) wrote on X:

"Eminem gives that legendary big uncle energy .. love it."

Another user wrote:

"Such a random shoutout but this is dope af."
"It's always cool to see artists like Eminem give props to the new generation," added a tweet.
"That’s amazing em," stated another netizen.

Several other netizens appreciated the gesture that Marshall made towards Latto. A user tweeted:

"Uncle Em is wholesome on a different level."
"I love how Eminem has been giving flowers to the lady rappers who can spit. First Young M.A.—even before anyone else gave her credit, now Latto," explained another one.
"Eminem is nicer than like 90% of his fan base that’s crazy," wrote a user.

Eminem had appreciated another younger artist previously as well

This was not the first time that Eminem appreciated a young rapper. Back in 2022, when he made an appearance on his own Shade 45 SiriusXM station, he gave a shoutout to Kendrick Lamar. Sway Calloway first described Lamar as "the most electrifying vocalist of this generation."

The Mockingbird rapper agreed with this statement and then gave a thorough elaboration. He said:

"I absolutely would agree. I would agree with that. Kendrick is at the very, very top tier of lyricists. Not just of this generation, but of all time."

Furthermore, in May 2022, Slim Shady took to X and shared how he felt about Kendrick Lamar's fifth studio album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers, which was dropped that same month. Eminem tagged Dr. Dre in his tweet and wrote,

"Yo @DrDre this Kendrick album is f****** ridiculous. I'm speechless."

In other latest news, Marshall is currently competing for a place in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Some other artists who are also competing include N.W.A, George Clinton, and Janet Jackson. While announcing his nomination, the organization gave shoutouts to several of his popular songs, like Lose Yourself, Stan, Mockingbird, Houdini, and Rap God.

Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow concluded its first season back in October 2019, with artists like Cardi B, Chance the Rapper, and Tip as judges. The winner of the first season was a rapper from California named D Smoke.

Judges in the second season include Latto, Ludacris, and DJ Khaled. As for now, seven episodes of the second season have been released on Netflix, and the rest of the three episodes will be dropped on December 4, 2024.
