DJ Akedemiks shared an update about Kendrick Lamar's Grand National Tour on his X handle on Friday, December. Attaching a screenshot of the show's tickets - with "Lower Prices" written under his Toronto show in June 2025, the DJ claimed in his post that the reason behind the dropped prices was the low demand for the Money Trees rapper's show in Canada.
DJ Akademiks' X post has since gone viral, receiving over 320K views on the social media platform, with netizens remarking how Kendrick Lamar was struggling despite SZA co-headlining the tour with him.
Some netizens compared the Hood Politics rapper to Drake, saying that the latter would never lower the prices of his show's tickets.
"drake would never lower prices just to sell more tickets. Bro sweating in his best year since 2018" - replied an X user.
"if he cancel that second Toronto date Drake won the beef lm*o" - posted a second user.
"Artists and promoters love throwing around "due to high demand" as a cover, but it's clear when the vibes aren't vibing like they used to." - commented a third user.
Meanwhile, other netizens sided with Lamar, pointing out that the rapper had another show in Toronto due to a higher demand.
"What part of the show being sold out so they had to add more shows is so hard to understand?" - wrote a fourth X user.
"I love how you conveniently leave out the fact that this is a third party reseller website and that “lower prices” means it’s lower in comparison to the other venues" - replied a fifth one.
"It only takes 5 seconds of analysis to figure out what is going on here. Friday show has limited inventory because it is on a better day of the week, and the Thursday show is listed as *lower prices* because it is lower in comparison to the other show there" - commented a sixth user.
The internet reactions follow the speculations that Kendrick Lamar's addition of a Toronto show in his upcoming tour is an alleged hit at Drake, who happens to be a Toronto native. However, neither rapper has commented on the matter so far.
Kendrick Lamar added two new dates to his tour
The criticism of DJ Akademiks comes after Kendrick Lamar added 2 more dates to his Grand National Tour on Friday, December 5.
One of the new tour dates will be hosted in Los Angeles, while the other will take place in Toronto. Both of these shows will be taking place at the same venues - Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles and Rogers Center in Toronto.
The Poetic Justice rapper's tour was initially going to have 21 shows, with SZA joining him to co-headline the shows. The Grand National Tour will kickstart in Minneapolis on April 19 and conclude on June 18 in Landover, Maryland.
Kendrick Lamar's Grand National Tour supports his recently-released album
The Backseat Freestyle rapper has announced his upcoming tour to support his sixth studio album, GNX, which was surprise-released on November 22.
The album was named after the Buick Grand National Experiment (GNX) - a 1987 vintage car that Kenrick Lamar had purchased earlier in 2024. His upcoming tour also derives its name from the car.
SZA, who will co-headline the upcoming tour beside K-Dot, has collaborated with the rapper on two songs in the latest album - Luther and Gloria. The former debuted on Billboard's Hot 100 chart at number 3.
Other songs from the album that have secured a position on the chart's top five include Squabble Up - which is at the top of the list, TV Off at number 2, and Wacced Out Murals at number 4.
The tickets for Kendrick Lamar's 2025 tour went on sale on Friday, December 6.
