At the 2024 Stellar Awards on Sunday, August 4, in Las Vegas, Nevada, American gospel singer and songwriter Erica Campbell got candid about the Diddy scandal.
On the event's red carpet, Erica Campbell was exclusively asked by The Neighborhood Talk’s reporter Antoine Blvck, “As a Christian, do you feel like Diddy has any chance for redemption? And do you think he would be welcomed back into Hollywood spaces?”
In response, the I Luh God songstress said:
“If the whole message of Jesus is he redeems and he saves, then everybody has a chance.”
While she did not take Diddy’s name nor addressed his circumstances in particular, she put forth her opinion in general by saying:
“Down here, you going to reap a consequence… of your choices… down here you’re going to pay for some of the things you have done. It just is what it is. But does God forgive and redeem? Yes! Will people? I don’t know.”
Erica Campbell also quoted the gospel, saying God loves the world, not the church or those who are perfect. She added that whoever believes in the almighty “should not perish but have eternal life.”
Erica Campbell previously shared her solidarity for Diddy’s ex-girlfriend Cassie
On May 17, 2024, CNN leaked a never-seen-before exclusive video of Sean “Diddy” Combs seemingly assaulting his former girlfriend Cassandra “Cassie” Ventura. The footage was traced back to March 2016 at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles.
It showed Diddy with a towel wrapped around his waist, following Cassie down the hotel hallway near the elevator and grabbing the back of her neck before shoving her to the ground. While she remained down, the Bad Boy record label owner was seen kicking her several times before dragging her across the floor back into their room.
A separate clip showed her trying to make a phone call by sneaking out to the hallway, only to be assaulted by Diddy once again. Later, he was also seen throwing an object at her while sitting at a table.
Since the video went viral, several celebrities offered solidarity for Cassie including Erica Campbell. The Help 2.0 singer took to her Instagram and wrote:
“@cassie I’m so sorry you have to relive this, as so many are talking about your pain. May your new reality of love and family be louder. Prayers and blessings and love.”
Erica Campbell’s social media post was also accompanied by an image of Cassie and her husband, Alex Fine, from their wedding day in 2019.
In the wake of the explosive video, Cassie shared her statement via Instagram, saying how it once again “broke” her. She said she will always be “recovering from my past,” adding that her “healing journey is never ending.” Later, Combs also issued an apology.
For those unaware, Cassie filed a $30 million civil lawsuit against Diddy in November 2023, accusing him of rape, physical abuse, trafficking, and more, which was settled within a day for an undisclosed amount.
Back then, Cassie told CNN she chose to “resolve this matter amicably.” Meanwhile, the hip-hop mogul’s lawyers told the outlet the settlement was “in no way an admission of wrongdoing.”
Since then, multiple other similar lawsuits have been filed by other alleged victims against Sean Combs, all of which continue to remain pending.
