Elisabeth Ovesen recently spoke to Sky News, recounting her experience with Diddy from the time she was a hip-hop video star.
In an article published on December 15, 2024, Ovesen - who was formerly known as Karrine Steffans, talked about how the nature of the rapper's relationship with his then-girlfriend - Cassie Ventura - was common knowledge for many in the music and entertainment industry.
Ovesen told the news outlet:
"I knew what kind of person he was to other people. Everything that's coming out now about Sean wasn't a secret... him and Cassie, that was an open secret in LA, in the industry. Everyone knew."
Addressing why celebrities were not eager to speak up against Diddy, the dancer continued:
"The issue with something like that is that if someone says, 'yeah, I was there, I've seen it. I know for sure'. Then the question becomes, well, what were you doing there?"
In 2005, Elisabeth Ovesen published a tell-all book about her life in the glamor world, titled Confessions Of A Video Vixen.
Ovesen called Diddy's behavior around her "pleasant" and "warm"
Recalling her first time meeting Diddy, Elisabeth Ovesen told Sky News that they were both in the same club, with their cars leaving at the same time. The Satisfy You rapper knew the people Ovesen was with.
Later that night, Ovesen said she was "kind of ordered" to Diddy's house, even though the rapper treated her "with respect".
Ovesen elaborated:
"He was very sweet and very docile with me and very respectful. The next morning we had brunch at his house… again, [he was] pleasant, warm."
Elisabeth then added that their encounter took place in 2001, shortly after the 50-year-old and Jennifer Lopez had broken up.
She also revealed that the Victory rapper's gentle behavior around her could also be an outcome of him knowing that the author kept a diary. While he was nice to her, Ovesen did witness Diddy "flare up" with other people.
Ovesen also added that the things that the 50-year-old is accused of are not exclusive to him. Per the former hip-hop video star, the culture of misogyny and abuse was rife in the music and film industry. Elisabeth added:
"If we're looking at this one person and the industry this person is in, now let's look at all the men who are not saying anything at all. I want to be very clear that what Sean is being accused of is not rare. He's not an anomaly... the behaviour is learned and perpetuated."
Following her 2005 book, Ovesen published several other books - including Vindication, The Vixen Diaries, and The Vixen Manual among others. She has also given lectures about her experiences in her former profession.
Diddy had three new s*xual assault lawsuits filed against him last week
Elisabeth Ovesen's statement comes in the wake of Sean "Diddy" Combs being named the defendant in three new s*xual abuse lawsuits last Thursday - December 12. These lawsuits, filed by New York attorney Thomas Giuffra have three different men (all named John Doe to stay anonymous) as their victims, all alleging that they were drugged and later r*ped by the Show Me Your Soul rapper.
The Cut reported on December 13 that the incidents mentioned in all the lawsuits have been claimed to have taken place between 2019 and 2022.
The first John Doe met the 50-year-old at a Manhattan party in 2019, where they were allegedly given a laced drink, making them unconscious. Upon regaining their senses, Doe found Combs r*ping them in front of two other people, who were videotaping the assault.
The second John Doe claimed that they ran errands for the Nasty Girl rapper between 2006 and 2018 and met with him in a Manhattan hotel in 2019 to discuss "missing payments," when they were drugged through an alcoholic drink and woke up to find the 50-year-old on top of them, r*ping them.
The third John Doe alleged being invited to one of Diddy's parties in the Hamptons in the summer of 2020, where they were drugged and r*ped by the rapper and his associates in turns.
Per The Cut, Diddy's legal team has denied the allegations made in these lawsuits, similar to the stance they took for the previous lawsuits, saying:
"These complaints are full of lies. We will prove them false and seek sanctions against every unethical lawyer who filed fictional claims against him."
Diddy is currently being held at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Correctional Center as he awaits his trial, which begins on May 5, 2025.
