Justin Timberlake has just made headlines following his Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) arrest in Sag Harbor on June 17. As several publications began reporting on the incident, one particular X post from Poo Crave went viral, which alleged that traces of Truvada, poppers, molly, and coke were found in Timberlake’s bloodstream.

Netizens were quickly convinced about this piece of information. A mugshot of the singer also went viral around the same time, where many presumed Timberlake was high because of how his eyes looked. A statement recorded in the court document further backed up the claim as it was said that the pop star’s eyes appeared “bloodshot and glassy”.

However, the police only performed a field sobriety test on Timberlake and asked him to take a breathalyzer test, which he refused. No reports of the singer undergoing a blood test have been disclosed. Thus, the claim about finding traces of Truvada and Poppers in his bloodstream stands false.

Furthermore, the post was made by Poo Crave, which is a parody page of Pop Crave. All posts on this page are satirical takes on trending pop culture news. A community note was added to Poo Crave's tweet about Justin Timberlake which also shed light on the page's satirical nature.

What is Truvada used for? Tweet on Justin Timberlake's arrest goes viral

Truvada is the brand name under which the combination drug Emtricitabine/ Tenofovir is sold. This is an antiretroviral medication used as a preventive aid for HIV infection. When an individual is prescribed this drug before potential exposure to human immunodeficiency virus, it’s called pre-exposure prophylaxis.

Truvada is manufactured as an oral tablet. This drug has some common side effects, including dizziness, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, diarrhea, respiratory infections, insomnia, rash, headache, sore throat, rash, sinus infection, and bone pain. However, most of these side effects usually subside within a few days or weeks.

The name of the drug went viral on X following Timberlake's arrest for driving while intoxicated. Poo Crave's tweet, which claimed Truvada was found in the Trolls actor's bloodstream along with a few other drugs, managed to influence many.

However, a few others were aware of the fabrication and commented on the same. Here are some of the reactions:

"I’m not believing that Justin Timberlake had poppers & Truvada in his system until a reputable confirmed media source reports it. Cause girl what?!?! TRUVADA?!?!?!?!", wrote one person.
"people are believing that poo_crave tweet about justin timberlake and truvada-", another person exclaimed.
"I’m crying. My husband just walked in and goes “did you see all the drugs Justin Timberlake had in his system? What’s Truvada?” GOTTEM POO CRAVE!!", shared one individual.
"Marked Safe from thinking the Justin Timberlake Poo Crave tweet was real", wrote another.

According to reports, an officer with the Sag Harbor Police Department, who was present during Justin Timberlake’s field sobriety test, said the singer was “unable to divide attention” and claimed his speech was slowed. The officer added:

“He was unsteady afoot and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”

The 43-year-old also rejected a chemical test thrice. Timberlake’s attorney Ed Burke said the singer was detained overnight for a court appearance but was released later without bail. Timberlake is scheduled for a court hearing on July 26.
