Durk Devontay Banks, a.k.a. Lil Durk, allegedly speaks from prison for the first time since his recent arrest in Hypno Carlito's new song. On Friday, November 1, 2024, Carlio dropped his latest track, Where Smurk Go, which features an alleged call by Banks made from a federal correctional facility, telling him:

"Hypno Carlito my motherf**king brother from another. Forever legend OFT (Only The Family) and I take yo f**king streets over... N*gga you know what time it is rest in peace."

U.S. Marshalls arrested Banks last week on the charges of a murder-for-hire plot, targeting Quando Rondo in 2022. The latter is suspected of being involved in the murder of King Von, who was signed to Lil Durk's OTF in 2020. Authorities alleged that the rapper (Durk) placed a bounty on Quando. While Quando survived, his cousin, Saviay'a Robinson, lost his life.

As news of Hypno Carlito's new song spread, internet users were quick to react. One called the alleged phone call fake, stating:

"I feel this is AI."

Some criticized Carlito for "clout chasing," while others slammed him for using Lil Durk's phone call in his song. Here are some comments seen on X:

"This another type of clout chasing," one user wrote.
"ill be mad as hell they book me and my homie call me 2 days later talm bout make a intro for his song," another commented.
"N*gga knew where to press before the talking ended....not a newcomer tho," a fan joked.

Many expressed their skepticism about the authenticity of the call.

"Wassup with all this AI and fake sh*t lately," a netizen remarked.
"These dumb people think this is durk," another wrote.
"that’s not him speakin frm jail," @LegendaryMedia7 stated.

Federal officers arrested Lil Durk on October 25 as he attempted to flee the country

Hypno Carlito is a Chicago rapper, who was signed on to Lil DUrk's OTF label and appeared on Durk's track Getto from his 2015 album Remember My Name. He even toured with the latter on his 40-city Remember My Name Tour.

Last week, TMZ published an article, citing sources with direct knowledge about Lil Durk, that despite being locked up, the rapper was in "great spirits." It was alleged that Banks was along well with the detention facility staff as well as his fellow inmates. It continued to add that the rapper complained about prison food.

In addition to Banks, five others with connections to his hip-hop group, OTF, were also arrested. These include Kavon London Grant (Cuz or Vonnie), Keith Jones (Flacka), Deandre Dontrell Wilson (DeDe), David Brian Lindsey (Browneyez), and Asa Houston (Boogie).

According to an October 2024 report by NBC News, Durk and the five rappers conspired to kill Quando Rando in 2022 as a retaliation for his alleged hand in the murder of King Von in 2020. Banks set a bounty on Quando, which led to the death of the latter's cousin, Lul Pab.

Per a release by the California Attorney's Office announcing Lil Durk's arrest, the flight tickets used to carry out the alleged murder-for-hire were purchased with a credit card linked to the rapper and OTF.

Just a day after Lul Durk's arrest, Quando Rondo dropped his track Life Goes On, where he condemns the violence, rapping:

"Beefing with the same color on my skin, same color of the hammer / Young n*ggas 'round here beefing 'bout the color of a bandana / That's why I put my flag down and I picked up a Quran / Because (Life goes on) life goes on."

Per a press release by federal authorities, Banks was arrested near Miami International Airport as he allegedly attempted to flee the country with three international flights booked under his name to Italy, Switzerland, and Dubai.

According to NBC's report, Lil Durk is being held at the Broward County jail without bail. Per the statement by federal authorities, the case is still under investigation.
