Firerose accuses Billy Ray Cyrus of "extreme verbal, emotional and psychological abuse" in her own divorce filing

Almost a month after Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce, his wife, Firerose filed a counter-complaint against the singer and songwriter accusing him of domestic abuse. With a divorce filing of her own at the Tennessee court on June 14, 2024, Firerose claimed that Billy Ray Cyrus is extremely “unpredictable and volatile.”

In her complaint, she also mentioned that the singer filed for divorce just a day before she had to undergo a preventive double mastectomy. People Magazine reported that Firerose’s attorney mentioned in her complaint:

“Wife was the victim of extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse. Wife was subjected to Husband’s persistent drug use accompanied with the consumption of marijuana which made Husband unpredictable and volatile towards Wife."

The complaint also stated:

"With Wife’s major surgery date looming, she was reasonably afraid to leave or seek any type of help because she feared that Husband would interfere with her surgery or her lengthy recovery at home."

Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce in May 2024, after the couple tied the knot in October 2023. In his petition for divorce, he stated that the couple is parting ways due to “irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct.” Furthermore, Cyrus also requested a temporary restraining order from Firerose.

Billy Ray Cyrus accused Firerose of spending over $96,000 on his America Express card in two weeks

As Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his current wife of seven months, he claimed that she spent over $96,000 on his American Express card in just two weeks, between May 23 and June 7. However, as per Page Six, Firerose commented on the accusation and stated that she already used his card since 2022, and the card never had a limit.

Additionally, she stated in her filing that $45,000 of the disputed funds were mistakenly charged and have since been reimbursed.

On the other hand, Firerose also responded to Billy’s claims of the marriage diluting due to “inappropriate marital conduct,” and claimed that it was the singer who acted inappropriately, as she often felt “unsafe” living with him.

Page Six reported that Cyrus’ representative spoke to the publication and stated that Cyrus did not do any such thing mentioned in Firerose’s complaint and that the wife is still “madly in love” with Billy. In a statement, Billy Ray Cyrus’ representative stated:

“We regret that Ms. Hodges has chosen to litigate this 7-month marriage in the press and has left Mr. Cyrus with no recourse but to set the record straight.

Further adding:

The allegations that Ms. Hodges states in her answer and counter-complaint are especially confusing and suspicious in its veracity since she begged Mr. Cyrus to forgive her and take her back only 2 days after he filed his pleadings to dissolve his marriage.”

The statement also mentions:

“When Mr. Cyrus returned to his home 2 days after Ms. Hodges was required, by Court Order, to vacate his residence of over 25 years and allowed him to return, he discovered a handwritten note from Ms. Hodges professing her love and need to be with Mr. Cyrus.”
