American journalist and television producer Elliot Wilson has shared his thoughts on Drake's new freestyle Fighting Irish. On January 3, the track was posted on Conductor Williams' YouTube channel. However, it was taken down soon after.

On January 4, Elliot Wilson took to X (formerly Twitter) to praise Drake's new freestyle. He wrote that it was Drizzy's first good work since Family Matters - one of the rapper's diss tracks aimed at Kendrick Lamar during their highly-publicized feud in 2024. Wilson wrote:

"First good move since 'Family Matters.'"

The 3-minute clip shared by Conductor Williams and Drake has now been deleted, although it did not take long for it to go viral on social media platforms. In the clip, Drizzy seemingly addresses various controversial topics, including loyalty, betrayal, and rifts in the hip-hop industry.

While the Toronto rapper did not take names, it has not stopped fans from speculating whether the lyrics were aimed at someone else. The rapper seemingly addressed his recent legal battle with Universal Music Group (UMG), took alleged shots at Kendrick Lamar, and questioned people's loyalty, supposedly referring to people switching sides during his feud with Lamar.

On January 3, 2024, 3 newly released snippets by Drake went viral online, seemingly teasing his upcoming collaboration with rapper PartyNextDoor. Two of the snippets appeared to be solo tracks by Drizzy while one featured PND's voice as well.

Each snippet is around 10 seconds long and marks the rapper's new music since his feud with Kendrick Lamar came to an end in May 2024. In one of his snippets, Drizzy seemingly addressed his feud with Lamar as he rapped:

"“F**k a rap beef I’m tryna get the party lit/ Looked on like a villain to him/ Dirk's boy taught me Marv is ruined/ What's his favorite song/ He would drill it to her/ Thousand ni**as rapping murder s**t/ And like ten ni**as that'll really do it/ Savage you don't--"

Drake's next snippet featuring PartyNextDoor appears to be a classic R&B style composition and is speculatively from his upcoming collaboration album with the OVO artist. The rapper first announced the collab album in August 2024 but he shared no update about an exact release date. The lyrics of the second snippet said:

"Getting old her pressure's getting heavy/ The rock up on your finger girl it scares me/ Never thought I'd see the day you cried/ Till you cried in my arms that night."

Finally, Drizzy's third snippet appears to be similar to his popular works and addressed to a woman. It is unclear whether Drake's solo snippets are from some other album or his next solo venture. He rapped:

"Scammers and them drugs with a flex on the budget/ I trick trick on you like I'm Detroit Thuggy/ Put y'all in jail 'cause I miss and I love ya/I wanna see my bae."

Drizzy's last studio album, For All The Dogs, was released in 2023. His collaboration album with PartyNextDoor was reportedly set to drop in November 2024. However, it was allegedly postponed due to Kendrick Lamar dropping his latest album, GNX, on November 22, 2024.

Drake last updated fans about his collaboration with PND during a Christmas livestream with YouTuber Adin Ross on December 26, 2024. During the stream, Ross told the rapper that he expected him to drop his collab with PND in November 2024 but it never came.

In response, Drizzy explained that he is extremely proud of what he and PartyNextDoor created together. It is "pretty much done" and the "best that both of them have to offer." It is worth noting that PartyNextDoor was the first artist to sign under Drizzy's OVO record label in 2013.
