50 Cent has finally won a one billion dollar lawsuit against former drug kingpin Cory “Ghost” Holland Sr. The case was filed in 2021, in which the former drug kingpin accused the rapper of stealing his life story and using it as the plot of the show, Power. Along with the rapper, Holland also accused co-creators Courtney Kemp, STARZ, and Lionsgate of the same.

As 50 Cent won the $1 billion lawsuit, he then posted on Instagram mocking the former drug kingpin. Posting a screenshot of the news headlines, he added in the caption,

“Fool thought he was GHOST😆 da fvck wrong wit these 🥷🏾’s man 🤨LOL.”

In his lawsuit, Holland claimed he had met Courtney Kemp’s father in the 1990s, and told him his entire story, also stating that he was trying to leave the drug business. He stated that he sent his detailed life story to Kemp’s father in 2007, and also mentioned that he had titled the CD "Blasphemy," which was used by the rapper and the co-creators to create Power.

Power, released in June 2014, lasted for six seasons until August 2019. The drama thriller series tells the tale of a drug dealer who goes by the name “Ghost.” The show stars Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, Adam Huss, Kathrine Marducci, and Luis Antonio Ramos, amongst many others.

50 Cent's Power follows Ghost trying to escape the drug world: Drug kingpin argues the similarity isn't coincidental

While 50 Cent aka Curtis James Jackson III is now celebrating his win in the $1 Billion 'Power' lawsuit, the kingpin argued in court that the series shows the story of “Ghost” who tries hard to leave the world of drugs and wishes to venture into legitimate businesses. He stated how this similarity cannot be coincidental as he had mentioned the same to Kemp’s father.

He stated in his lawsuit that the CD that he gave to Kemp’s father somehow reached Curtis James Jackson. Holland also exclaimed that the makers had used more than 200 scenes based on his life. However, the judge in the case, Analisa Torres ruled that the show was not directly referencing the life of Holland, as she passed the ruling in favor of 50 Cent.

Furthermore, the rapper’s attorney, Joanna Hill stated in court that Holland, the former drug kingpin, failed to produce evidence in the court, and slammed him for making defamatory statements against the rapper. The attorney repeatedly stated that a few similarities were a coincidence, as there were no direct connections between the rapper and Holland.

On the other hand, Holland had also filed another $300 million lawsuit accusing 50 Cent of “intentionally inflicted emotional distress” and “attempt to physical assault.” He also included the name of Lionsgate Entertainment and stated that the company made no efforts to stop the harassment. While the $1 billion case has been ruled in 50 Cent’s favor, the case of assault is still pending judgment.
