Mia Farrow opened up about her former husband, Frank Sinatra, whom she was married to for two years, recalling his temper and shy nature. Farrow, alongside her The Roommate co-star Patti LuPone, joined CBS Sunday Morning on Sunday, September 1, to promote their one-act comedy. In the interview, she recalled her late ex-husband's multi-layered persona, telling journalist Seth Doane:
"Like Patti, he [Sinatra] was Sicilian. But unlike Patti, he had a temper."
Mia Farrow, who was slightly over 29 years Sinatra's junior, further shared:
"But the essential person [of Frank Sinatra] was so compassionate and shy, and readily available, more than anyone I've ever known.
The New York Times reported that the former couple tied the knot in Las Vegas on July 19, 1996 when Farrow was only 21 years old. It was her first marriage but Sinatra's third, who was 50 at that time.
Exploring Mia Farrow and Frank Sinatra's relationship and age gap
Based on J. Randy Taraborrelli's book titled Frank Sinatra; Behind the Legend, the later actor and Mia Farrow met for the first time while filming at 20th Century Fox in 1964. While Sinatra was shooting Von Ryan's Express, Farrow was on set for Peyton Place. According to the book, it was an instant attraction for the New York, New York crooner, who had a curious and adorably awkward meeting with the then-19 actress.
Sinatra reportedly called Farrow "kid" when they first met, and he asked how old she was, to which the actress took offense. She supposedly told him that it was "hardly a question to ask a lady." The book also quoted the record-breaking music star, saying that it was Farrow's hair that "got" him.
In February 2007, Mia Farrow gave The Guardian some perspective about how her and Sinatra's age difference played out. She said:
"I was less mature than any other 19-year-old I've ever known. Poor Frank, saddled with a child. I would be falling asleep at the table at Las Vegas, trying to talk to people about their cats."

However, Farrow recalled how the singer was "very patient" with her. As per Taraborrelli's book, Sinatra's friend, Dean Martin, told him that he had "Scotch older than this kid [Farrow]."
Two years after they first met, the two married in Las Vegas in July 1966, Farrow was 21 and Sinatra was 50, without telling most of their friends and family. However, divorce came not too long after their marriage. Two years later, Farrow and Sinatra ended their union, with the crooner serving her divorce papers while she was shooting for Rosemary's Baby.
Despite the end of their marriage, Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow remained allies and friends until the Grammy-winning crooner died of a heart attack on May 14, 1998.
Farrow told CBS Sunday Morning recently that her relationship with Sinatra "ended up being a friendship that lasted until he died." She attended Sinatra's 1998 funeral and told Vanity Fair in October 2013 that she put a note and her wedding ring in his coffin.
