Uncle Murda has released his Rap Up installment for 2024, which contains disses aimed at industry juggernauts like Drake, Diddy, J. Cole, Jay-Z, and many others. The Brooklyn rapper, originally called Leonard Carl Grant, is known for releasing these rap ups at least once a year since 2014. They target various socio-political events and focus on the developments in the music industry.
Over the years, Uncle Murda has included topics like feuds between rappers, the changing political climate, and sports events in these yearly releases. The 44-year-old has been involved in several controversies for dissing high-profile names in these rap ups.
In Rap Up 2024, he has targeted topics like Diddy's ongoing lawsuit, Jay-Z's alleged involvement in s*xually assaulting a 13-year-old, the infamous Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar diss track feud, and many others.
Exploring what Uncle Murda rapped about various celebrities in Rap Up 2024
Uncle Murda samples several iconic songs from The Temptations, 112, and many more in his 17-minute-long Rap Up 2024. The musical number starts by addressing Diddy's incessant legal troubles, referencing the leaked tape of him allegedly assaulting Cassie Ventura to claims involving his "freak-off" parties.
“Diddy do it? That n***a did it, Diddy, you foul / Don’t play with the feds, cop out, don’t go to trial / For 20-something years, you hid that sh*t / Whatever they saying you did, you did that sh*t,” he raps.
He even mentiones the recently filed lawsuit against Jay-Z claiming that he s*xually assaulted a 13-year-old girl along with Diddy.
“JAY-Z’ll never pick up the phone for Puff again / They tried to say him and Jay r*ped a 13-year-old / We don’t believe that, leave Beyoncé‘s man alone / Jay ain’t waste no time to respond, had flashbacks to that elevator sh*t with Solange,” Uncle Murda raps.
After that, he targets one of the most talked-about events in the hip-hop industry this year, i.e., the diss track feud between Drizzy and Kendrick Lamar. After the rap battle seemingly cooled down, Drake filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) on November 25, accusing the company of artificially inflating the streaming numbers of K Dot's Not Like Us.
Referring to the incident, Uncle Murda raps:
“[Kendrick] really got Drake out here suing his record label / You looking corny for doing that, Drake, stop / That’s worse than J. Cole apologizing to K. Dot / You filing a lawsuit, f*ck is that all about? / That’s that white boy sh*t in you that Kendrick was talking ’bout / Sh*t crazy, you know I made y’all laugh a lot "
Joe Budden is another major feature in the rap. On December 4, the 44-year-old was charged with lewdness when a neighbor complained about seeing him naked in the hallway.
“Joe Buddens got locked up for being in the building naked / It was on the Ring camera, one of his neighbors taped it / That’s crazy, all the sh*t he be talkin’ / He was on some kind of drug, he wasn’t sleepwalking / That’s embarrassing, I know he feelin’ crazy / That’s why he ain’t been recording no new episodes lately," Murda said in his rap.
Other features included Rick Ross's viral knockout in Canada, Cardi B and Offset's turbulent relationship and divorce, Lil Durk's arrest, and Megan Thee Stallion's controversy with Gayle King. The rapper even alludes to the online chatter involving Ice Spice's alleged weight loss and people claiming that she uses Ozempic.
“Ice Spice ain’t got no more figure, I thought she was Coi Leray when I saw her in the picture / You know she likes to turn around and shake it when she performs / How she gonna do that sh*t now when her a** is gone? / That Ozempic made her lose weight like, ‘Wow’ / GloRilla got a bigger butt than her right now,” he raps.
Uncle Murda's Rap Up 2024 has already amassed over 770,000 views in just two days (as of writing).
Uncle Murda declares that Rap Up 2024 might be his last
In an interview with The Danza Project shortly after the release of Rap Up 2024, Murda declared that this year's rap up might be his last.
"It's entertaining. I know people look forward to it every year so I figured, you know, let me do it. Now this might be the last year though or, at least, I might take a break. But yeah it feels good. 10 years of doing this s**t," the 44-yer-old MC said.
In his first-ever installment in 2014, Uncle Murda talked about Diddy's alleged scuffle with Drake and Nicki Minaj's break up with Safaree. Since then, Uncle Murda has consistently released rap ups once every year, delivering summaries of major events in the hip-hop industry. In 2023, he even split them up into three parts.
