"Getting sued by a friend is tough" - Ryan Reynolds jokes about using Taylor Swift's cats in Deadpool 2

Taylor Swift's cats made an appearance on Ryan Reynolds' characters' shirts in Deadpool 2. In an interview with SiriusXM's Town Hall in New York on July 19, Ryan Reynolds joked about getting sued by Taylor Swift for using her cats' pictures for a shirt.

"Yes, I had a T-shirt made. Yes, of (Swift's cats) Meredith and Olivia on Wade's shirt. Yeah, you know, just little details, that's all."

Radio host Jess Cagle asked the actor if he called Swift and took her permission, to which Reynolds replied:

"No, I was sued. I lost everything in that one. And getting sued by a friend is tough to swallow. Also, she has just a lot of very, very powerful lawyers. I found out later those are just paralegals. The real lawyers didn't even bother with it."

Taylor Swift shares a close friendship with Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively. As per the album booklet of Reputation, the couple's child, James Reynolds-Lively, voiced the intro for Taylor Swift's song, Gorgeous.

Ryan Reynolds and his wife, Blake Lively, share a close friendship with Taylor Swift. In 2022, while debunking the theory that Swift would feature in his new film, the actor told Entertainment Tonight that he would do "anything" for the singer.

"Are you kidding me? I would do anything for that woman. She's a genius."

Reynolds also added that his entire family is "obsessed" with Swift and her album, Midnights,

"Oh my God, yes. All of us, whole house, I'm not kidding. I love it so much. I do, Blake does, my daughters. We love it. Obsessed."

The couple have been spotted singing and dancing at Taylor's concerts a bunch of times. In a 2018 Foxborough, Massachusetts concert, Lively and Reynolds were seen jumping after hearing their child James' cameo in Gorgeous. While speaking to GMA in September, Blake Lively mentioned:

"Our kids have very normal lives, as much as that's possible. So she didn't even get a title on the album. I should be collecting royaltie!"

In March 2021, Taylor gave a shout-out to the couple and their kids while giving an acceptance speech for Album of the Year at the Grammys.

During a Variety interview with his Deadpool and Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman and director Shawn Levy, when the trio played a guessing game and tried to guess Ryan's favorite Taylor Swift song, Ryan revealed his favorite song is Betty.

Betty is from Folklore (2020) and the lyrics name his three daughters, Betty, Inez, and James.
