Singer and songwriter Renee Rapp did not seem happy after her performance was cut short at the Reading Festival on August 25. Reportedly, the stage's roof was inundated with water due to rain from Storm Lilian, drenching her band and equipment. On August 26, Renee Rapp took to Instagram and posted a selfie with the caption,
“girl what the f**k was that”
As seen from the videos posted by fans on X, water started pouring down from the roof while she was on stage. Renee Rapp then asked the audience how they had been, and she said she felt amazing. She added sarcastically,
“I personally feel amazing. All our equipment is definitely in good condition. I need to pull somebody to the side for a quick chat. I need to have a chat about this. It's f*****g ridiculous.”
Pop Crave posted a video clip on X where the singer was seen saying she wanted to give a good show. She said the team on stage was drenched, and some of their equipment was compromised.
The video showed crew members covering the equipment with plastic sheets to avoid damage. Reportedly, Renee Rapp had to leave the stage after a message appeared on the screen stating that the show needed to be stopped for a few minutes.
Renee Rapp’s performance was interrupted while she was singing Bruises
Renee Rapp’s performance at the Reading Festival got off to a troubled start as her microphone stopped working. However, the issue was resolved, and the singer started her performance with Talk Too Much and Poison Poison. As she began her third song, Bruises, water started pouring down the roof due to strong winds. Following the earlier microphone malfunction, this was the second time she was compelled to leave the stage.
She returned and restarted her performance with Not My Fault. Nonetheless, her performance was again interrupted by another downpour. As Renee Rapp left the stage, the crew started setting up the stage for the next band, Pendulum.
In Leeds, Storm Lilian resulted in extreme weather conditions. On the first day of the event, multiple sets had to be canceled due to this. The BBC Radio 1 stage and Aux stages were affected, resulting in the cancellation of performances on these stages. On August 23, the organizers released a statement on X, saying:
“We can see an end in sight to the high winds. We definitely won't be opening the arena at 11am, but we are targeting as soon as possible after that and we will update you further. However, we have definitely lost the BBC Radio 1 stage today, and there will be no performances on it. We have also lost the Aux stage today, and there will be no performances on it.”
On August 24, Lana Del Ray faced technical difficulties at the festival. A production error cut her performance short, and the authorities apologized to her. Other artists affected by technical issues included Jorja Smith and Ashnikko, whose performances were reportedly shifted to different stages.
