Rapper T.I. and his wife and singer Tameka “Tiny” Harris were awarded a whopping $71 million after winning the lawsuit against MGA Entertainment over the OMG Girlz dolls. The conglomerate created their popular L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. line of dolls and violated the intellectual property rights of the couple’s teen pop group OMG Girlz, leading to the massive pay.

This was the couple’s third attempt at suing which they finally won. Netizens have since taken to the internet to applaud the couple for their latest win.

Rolling Stone reported that jurors found over a dozen L.O.L. Surprise! O.M.G. dolls:

“infringed on the trade dress and misappropriated the name, image, and likeness of the all-female band that T.I. and Tiny formed in 2009.”

The girl group consists of Bahja Rodriguez, Breaunna Womack, and Tiny Harri’s daughter, Zonnique Pullins.

Not many were surprised with the striking resemblance the dolls had to the performers. Even Tiny Harris took to Instagram at one point to call out MGA Entertainment. Harris wrote online,

“Do these dolls look familiar?”

During the court proceedings that took place over three weeks, T.I. and Tiny accused MGA Entertainment of promoting seven dolls from the collection, which includes 32 dolls, that looked similar to the girls from the girl group.

During the trial, the couple’s attorney, John Keville, demanded that MGA Entertainment should be penalized up to $72 million to “send them a message.” Eventually, he thanked the jurors for standing up to the company’s “bullying and misrepresentations.”

Fans of T.I., Harris and the girl group, were thrilled to learn that they won the lawsuit against the organization. Many congratulated the couple online, with some also opining that the band must also be paid from the lump sum. One netizen said:

As Harris and T.I. won the lawsuit, MGA Entertainment’s founder Isaac Larian denied allegations of the girl group influencing the dolls’ design. Larian also called the couple and the girl group “extortionists” during the trial. Some other reactions read:

Tiny Harris and T.I. release statements after winning the lawsuit

This was the third time the famous family attempted to sue the organization. Their first attempt happened in January 2023. However, the trial ended with being a mistrial. The second time, MGA Entertainment won the legal battle; however, the case was retired as per a Supreme Court ruling.

While speaking to Rolling Stone about the legal win, Tiny said:

“I mean, wow. They did more than I thought they would. I would have been happy with whatever. They blessed us more than beyond. We wanted to thank the jurors so bad, but we didn’t get the opportunity.”

T.I. also said that MGA attempted to paint him as the “bad guy” and that they were trying to rip off the singing trio.

Now, the OMG Girlz remain on tour as they perform their latest single, Motion. The band also testified in the aforementioned trial.
