Young Thug is playing the peacemaker as he publicly pleads with Drake, Metro Boomin, and Future to put an end to their beef once and for all in the name of making more music. The Atlanta rapper shared a post on X on Friday, October 18, 2024, calling for his fellow rappers and friends to patch things up, following their feud that started in March.
It started with the beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar, where they dropped a series of diss tracks on each other. This later turned into a " 20 v. 1" feud, with Drake against other rappers, including Future and Metro, among many others. In his post, Young Thug called for his "bruddas" to find some peace between them because the hip-hop scene hasn't been the same since their beef. He wrote:
"@Drake @1future @MetroBoomin we all bruddas. Music ain't the same without us collabin."
When fans got wind of his message addressed to fellow rap stars, fans flooded the comments section to share their thoughts. A fan account pointed out that Young Thug is playing peacemaker while in jail.
"Goat squashing beefs behind bars the streets need him," a fan commented.
Young Thug is currently at Fulton County jail on RICO charges, and it appears that he seemingly wrote his latest tweet from there. Meanwhile, other fans are hopeful that the feud will end with Thug's help and new music emerges if they collab.
"WE POURING HONEY ON YOU GOAT IF THEY GET BACK TOGETHER," a fan on X commented.
"We all feel your absence in the music scene and can't wait for your return. The magic that you, Drake, Future, and Metro created was truly special, and I'm sure that once you're back in the studio together, it's be like you never left, an X user chimed in.
"Thugger has spoken! Future and Drake can't beef. They have too much chemistry and too many hits. The culture is better when they collab," another fan on X noted.
Other fans pointed out Young Thug's influence in the hip-hop scene, implying that the beef wouldn't have happened if he wasn't locked up.
"Notice this beef happened after Thug got locked up, he kept rap in check," an X user commented.
"If you weren't locked up rn everything would be good between them," another fan on X said.
What to know about Drake, Future, and Metro's feud as Young Thug calls for truce?
One of the most significant events of 2024 is Drake and Kendrick Lamar's feud, with both musicians releasing diss tracks back and forth. The beef also involves Future, Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, Kanye West, and A$AP Rocky.
The tension between Drake and Kendrick Lamar reportedly started when the latter did a guest verse in Big Sean's Control, where he took digs at several artists, including Drake.
Fast forward to March 2024, Kendrick dropped Like That with Future, seemingly replying to Drake and J. Cole's 2023 release, First Person Shooter. Kendrick called out Drake's Big 3 claim in Like That, saying "it's just big me." A series of diss tracks followed from both camps, with Drake releasing Push Ups, Taylor Made Freestyle, and Family Matters, among others. Meanwhile, Kendrick reportedly hit back at Drizzy with disses like Euphoria, 6:16 in LA, Not Like Us, and more.
Future and Metro Boomin also collaborated on the album titled We Don't Trust You, and they featured a few more artists who were publicly involved in a brawl with Drake at the time. Future's Like That was included in the track list plus a few more that took shots at the Canadian rapper.
The duo followed it with another collaboration LP titled We Still Don't Trust You, which included a few more subtle disses on Drake from artists like A$AP Rocky.
Speaking of the feud, Future appears to be supportive of Young Thug's plea to bury the hatchet. The Mask Off artist reposted Thug's tweet about ending the beef between him, Drake, and Metro Boomin.
