A woman named Vanessa LeMaistre is suing Leland Tyler Wayne aka Metro Boomin over an alleged r*pe that happened in 2016, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. Soon after the news broke out, DJ Akademiks addressed the lawsuit during his live Twitch stream.
In a short clip shared on Akademiks' X feed on October 30, the 33-year-old referred to Vanessa LeMaistre's claims, reflecting on the possibility of them being either true or false. He weighed in on Kendrick Lamar's association with Boomin and said:
"Now, what this does do though is it shows the pretentiousness of somebody like Kendrick. Imma be honest with you, I'm not making this a Kendrick thing. Because when Kendrick basically panders and starts up, 'Oh, so and so has a case.'"
The internet personality and streamer added:
"I'm pretty sure we're not gonna see no comments from Kendrick and we shouldn't. But it just goes to show for all you people who think Kendrick's Jesus. This sh*t's just like Baka. This sh*t's just like what’s been alleged at 30 other people."
Akademiks supposedly referred to Kendrick's verse about Baka Not Nice in his Drake diss track Not Like Us. Baka, a longtime friend of Drake and an OVO Sound signee was arrested in 2014 on human trafficking charges. Alluding to the arrest, Kendrick rapped, "Baka got a weird case, why is he around?"
DJ Akademiks further talked about the Grammy-winning rapper's ties with Dr. Dre, given the elder rapper's record of violence against women. He called Kendrick Lamar out for being acquainted with artists who have assault and violence allegations against them, despite dissing Drake for the same.
Akademiks referred to Kendrick, as he continued:
"...try to act as if, the people he associates with is beyond moral reproach or beyond some of the stuff that we’re seeing happening now."
Brief look at Metro Boomin's role in the Drake-Kendrick beef amid his lawsuit
DJ Akademiks has been a consistent commentator on Drake and Kendrick Lamar's rap battle since it erupted in April 2024. After J. Cole addressed Kendrick, Drake, and himself as "the big three" in his Dreezy collab First Person Shooter, the Compton rapper shared his response on Future and Boomin's Like That.
The feud began simmering as Drake dropped two more tracks to seemingly counter Kendrick. Finally, in April, the beef flared up with Kendrick's scathing diss track Euphoria, leading to several back-and-forth tracks from both him and Drake.
In some of the songs, Kendrick accused the 6 God crooner of grooming, further alleging some members of Drake's OVO crew had been embroiled in litigations over s*xual assault and other issues.
Metro Boomin addressed the Drake-Kendrick rap beef at the 2024 Forbes Under 30 Summit on September 24. Boomin said:
"I feel like the competition is great for the game. Hip-hop has always been a competitive genre. Even if just keeping it on music it’s not serious how everybody tries to make it."
He said that ego is somewhat crucial in Hip-Hop as every artist is supposed to feel they are the best, adding:
"When two of the top dogs in the game and you both feel like you’re the best."
However, Boomin said the "stan culture" is what makes the rap battle out of proportion.
Throughout Kendrick Lamar and Drake's back-to-back diss beef, and even months after it ended, Akademiks has spoken in favor of Drake. Amidst the new lawsuit against Metro Boomin, the streamer again addressed Kendrick's association with the Grammy-nominated producer.
Plaintiff Vanessa LeMaistre claimed to have met Metro Boomin in 2016 on a trip. She was reportedly grieving her infant son at the time. Boomin allegedly invited her to his studio in L.A. in September, where she blacked out after taking a half pill of Xanax with some alcohol to cope with her emotional affliction.
Upon coming back to consciousness, Vanessa allegedly found Metro Boomin performing a s*x act on her. She passed out once more and after waking up again, the producer informed her they were in a hotel room in Beverly Hills and that it was time for her to leave.
LeMaistre soon found out she was pregnant, alleging it was Metro Boomin's child as she did not engage in s*xual activities with anyone else. However, she underwent an abortion in November 2016.
Metro Boomin's lawyer Lawrence Hinkle II reportedly denied Vanessa's claims in a statement to TMZ, calling them "false accusations". Hinkle added that Boomin would file a malicious prosecution complaint to defend himself in court.
