Following the announcement of Oasis's reunion tour next year, fans and music lovers couldn’t seem to hold their excitement. The band announced on August 27 that tickets for their UK and Ireland tour will be on sale from August 31. The tour is scheduled to start from July 4, 2025, and continue till August 17, 2025. However, the band planned to tour continents outside Europe later in 2025.
Despite this much awaited news, fans have also raised their concerns over the reunion’s dates clashing from August 2 with Edinburgh's Festival Fringe, which takes place every year during the time of August. The festival will be held from August 1 to 25 next year. One fan on X wrote:
“Hah, they’re playing Edinburgh the same time as the fringe/festivals. Good luck getting hotels for those dates x.”
Other fans shared similar sentiments online.
“Oasis. In Edinburgh. During the Fringe. Good luck getting accommodation for that without having to sell a couple of organs,” another person commented.
“No but really though, if Oasis playing Edinburgh during the Fringe has a negative effect on my bucket that weekend I'm going to be so pissed off,” another X user wrote.
Netizens appeared to be concerned over the logistical problems that might arise during the two events. Others hinted at the possible price hike of accommodation facilities.
“Oasis plus the Fringe in Edinburgh next August. I'm sure that @scotgov offering Scotrail staff a one year deal rather than a three year deal will still seem like a great idea this time next year. Ach, they'll surely enter negotiations early in 2025, having learned their lesson?” one netizen reacted.
“Oasis playing Edinburgh during the fringe is going to be spectacular when Scotrail announce the last train to Glasgow is 10pm,” one X user wrote.
“Oasis playing two nights in Edinburgh during the Fringe festival. You'll need to take out a mortgage to get a hotel room,” another netizen commented.
Oasis Reunion and Festival Fringe might see an increased accommodation demand next year
According to the itinerary on the official website, the band will be performing at Edinburgh Scottish Gas Murrayfield Stadium on August 8 and 9, 2025. Given the overlapping dates, festivalgoers are likely to face logistical issues. An NME report published on August 27 stated that Festival Fringe not only creates a demand for accommodation but also takes a toll on the city’s transport network.
According to The Independent published on June 13, accommodation rates during the Fringe Festival could rise to £1,125 per night. Moreover, the problem aggravated this year due to the regulations on short-let, which were introduced in October 2023. With these concerns in place, there might be similar issues next year.
This year’s Festival Fringe concluded on August 26. The official website reported that over 2.6 million tickets were issued this year. A total of 3,746 shows were registered, which included a representation of 60 countries.
