Even after years of starring in Dance Moms, JoJo Siwa praised her then mentor and instructor, Abby Lee Miller. On April 25, 2024, the Karma singer and some of her co-stars stepped out in New York City for the reunion special Dance Moms: The Reunion. In a conversation with PEOPLE, JoJo talked about Abby, who was not present for the reunion.

JoJo, 20, has been working on rebranding her image and welcoming her adulthood. She spoke to PEOPLE about her current relationship with her former coach and reported,

"Abby, honestly, my relationship is great."

Miller has often been in the news for her 'harsh training' in Dance Moms. She often seemed to clash with the young performers and their mothers. In a glimpse shared by Entertainment Tonight of the premiere, JoJo Siwa was with her former co-stars, including Kalani Hilliker, Kendall Vertes, Chloé Lukasiak, Paige Hyland, and Brooke Hyland. JoJo Siwa was candid and appeared to defend Miller's teaching techniques.

"This is going to be a little controversial to say, I think, but, to me, Abby was always right."

JoJo Siwa has also shared glimpses of her early days on Dance Moms on her Instagram. The photo shows Abby Miller talking to the young performers. She captioned it as,

"Pep talk time."

When JoJo Siwa first appeared on the show, she looked forward to working with Miller more than anything. While tensions continued to arise between the coach and the stars, their relationship is going strong after JoJo's final bow.

After many seasons of Dance Moms, Abby Miller has been living a much quieter life. She continues to coach students intermittently through her YouTube channel. While Abby will not appear in the reunion episode, Siwa and she seem to have their weekly conversations. Miller has also showered praises on JoJo's new look and rebranding and seems to support her endeavors. Abby Miller also defends Siwa's artistic evolution and reported,

"Everyone is making such a big deal about her rebranding. JoJo is doing incredible dancing with a lot of paint on her face."

The highly anticipated two-hour special, Dance Moms: The Reunion, will premiere on May 1, 2024, on Lifetime. The episode will likely share the positive and negative experiences of the former co-stars, including JoJo Siwa.

While Abby Miller has been called out for her infamous teaching methods, Siwa praised her mentorship and continues to cherish her presence in her journey. Additionally, as Siwa embarks on new chapters, she continues to have Miller's unwavering support.
