On December 27, Canadian musician Grimes, known for her unique style, addressed claims regarding her past relationship with billionaire Elon Musk. Responding to a Twitter (X) exchange with rapper Azealia Banks, Grimes refuted accusations that Musk "dumped" her, clarifying that she was the one who ended their relationship, as reported by Page Six.

The statement has reignited public interest in the timeline of their on-again, off-again romance, which spanned from 2018 to 2022 and resulted in three children. Grimes and Azealia Banks first made headlines in 2018 during a dispute that coincided with Musk's controversial tweet about taking Tesla private.

This past drama resurfaced when Grimes engaged in a meme comparing the two to characters from Wicked. Banks reacted by accusing Grimes of being "dumped" and criticized her relationship with Musk, alleging he "harvested" Grimes' eggs and shared inappropriate photos. Grimes responded by denying Banks' claims and asserting her independence. Grimes tweeted:

"I didn't 'get dumped'. I bounced. My amazing baby is asleep in my bed beside me, I'm in love. no regrets. Life is as beautiful as u want it to be."

She concluded by expressing her admiration for Banks, despite their history, writing:

"Ur insanely talented. even after all this, I want u to win. god bless Mlady."

The relationship timeline of Elon Musk and Grimes

Grimes, whose real name is Claire Boucher, and Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, first connected over Twitter in 2018. Their initial interaction reportedly stemmed from a shared interest in artificial intelligence. Musk had planned to tweet a joke involving the Rococo Basilisk concept but discovered that Grimes had already referenced it in her 2015 music video for Flesh Without Blood.

This mutual fascination sparked their relationship. The couple's first public appearance was at the 2018 Met Gala, where they surprised fans by arriving together. Musk later praised Grimes in an interview with The Wall Street Journal in May 2018, admiring her "wild fae artistic creativity and hyper-intense work ethic."

Throughout their relationship, Grimes and Elon Musk maintained a high-profile presence, attending events such as Tesla unveilings, the Hyperloop Pod Competition, and even the Kardashian-Jenner Christmas Eve party. Grimes often defended Musk on social media, addressing controversies surrounding Tesla and his political donations.

In May 2020, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named X Æ A-12 Elon Musk (later amended to X Æ A-Xii). Their second child, Exa Dark Sideræl Musk (nicknamed Y), was born via surrogate in March 2022, and the third child is named Techno Mechanicus.

Despite their growing family, the couple's relationship faced challenges, including the strain of living in different locations due to their careers. Musk primarily worked in Texas, while Grimes focused on her music career in Los Angeles.

Since their split, Musk and Grimes have reportedly been involved in a custody battle over their three children. Musk has a total of 11 children, including five with his first wife, Justine Wilson, and three kids with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis.

Grimes, meanwhile, continues to focus on her music career and raising her children. Elon Musk remains busy with his many ventures, including Tesla, SpaceX, and Neuralink, while maintaining his presence in the public eye.
