Taylor Swift is trending on social media after a viral tweet claimed that her popularity was bigger in comparison to Michael Jackson's. The post was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by an individual under the username @venicesbvtch on July 27, 2024, with a video.

The clip included a glimpse of a huge crowd waiting to see the performance of Taylor Swift and the user wrote below the video:

"Not even Michael Jackson himself could do this. Y'all really need to stop comparing other pop girlies to Taylor because their just not on her level."

The tweet received a negative response on social media, where people slammed the way Jackson was compared to Swift. One of the reactions described the entire post as a "disrespect" to the late artist and it reads:

"Michael Jackson had grown men fainting just off the sight of him taking his glasses off. Don't you ever disrespect him like that."

More reactions continued in the comments section of the post, with people saying that Michael Jackson was bigger than Taylor Swift, referring to the crowd appearing in the video.

"Michael can do 100x more than this please", a user wrote.
"Michael Jackson was 10x bigger than tayable will ever be", another user wrote.
"Michael Jackson would easily do that", a third user wrote.

People even targeted Taylor Swift's fanbase in their reactions.

"Yall swifties can have yall shine but Keep The Late MJ out of it", a user stated.
"Trying to compare the most white bread pop star of all time to the King himself. You Swifties are getting desperate lol", another user stated.
"Delete this please stop setting up taylor", a third user stated.

Some users even praised Michael Jackson for his achievements.

"Michael Jackson was more popular and he did it without social media", a reaction reads.
"He was more than an artist… he actually cared about this planet and the youth…. This man gave love like no other does now", a second reaction reads.

Taylor Swift has broken a few records held by Michael Jackson in the past

While the recent tweet comparing Swift with Jackson has grabbed a lot of attention on the internet, the former has not shared any response to the same until now. Meanwhile, she had previously set some new records, which were considered to be more than the ones set by Michael Jackson in his career.

Swift's concert film managed to surpass the profits accumulated by Jackson's This Is It in 2009. Notably, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour accumulated around $261.1 million in terms of box office collection in January this year, which was a bit more compared to the profits of This Is It, as per Forbes magazine.

Although Swift's film was not running in any theatres at the time, it grossed around $8.7 million after its release in China.

Furthermore, Swift was in the headlines in November last year when her single Is It Over Now? reached on top of the US Billboard Hot 100. She already had two more songs trending on the charts the same year and the record was previously held by Jackson 5, which contributed to bringing more popularity for Michael Jackson.

Back in 2021, Taylor Swift's ninth album Evermore remained on the top spot on the US Billboard 200 for three weeks. The same record was previously held by Michael Jackson alongside The Beatles, Elvis Presley, and Garth Brooks.

In another instance, Music Week revealed in 2021 that Swift sold 22.4 million album units on different platforms which was more than Michael Jackson's sales of 21 million units after he passed away in 2009. Jackson's record was broken due to the success of Swift's album Midnights which sold more than 1 million units.

Taylor Swift's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, came out in April this year and received a positive response from her fans. The album grabbed the first spot on the charts, including US Billboard 200 and UK Albums.
