Chris Brown has been trending on social media for some time after singer Tank appeared for an interview with Stephen A. Smith, saying that Brown was "better than Michael Jackson." Meanwhile, the singer has now responded to Tank's words and shared a clip of an interview through his Instagram Story.
Brown posted the video on August 17, 2024, where he was asked about the same by radio host Big Boy. The rapper replied to Tank's statement by saying:
"I stay the hell out of it. Like, I kind of back of it. My personal take on is like I wouldn't even be breathing or even being able to sing a song if that man didn't exist."
Chris Brown added that Michael Jackson was "light years ahead" and a competition with him was impossible. Notably, Brown did not state anything else in the Story except that he added a collage of two pictures featuring him in one alongside Jackson in another.
Notably, during his conversation with Stephen A. Smith, Tank addressed the reason for calling Brown better than Jackson and said:
"We talk about Chris Brown, we're talking about the evolution of Michael Jackson, Usher, me, and Ginuwine. This is what this kind is."
Smith also agreed, saying that Brown was the "best in the world" considering that he had seen the latter performing on different occasions. However, he also mentioned that he had no idea if someone could be better than Jackson in the future.
Meanwhile, The Shade Room obtained Brown's video, sharing the same through their Instagram page and netizens took to the comments section of the post to share their responses. One of them wrote:
"He has always had the utmost respect for MJ."
A few users disagreed with the comparison with Jackson, with a person writing that no one can underestimate the popularity of the late artist. People also continued praising Brown for the respect he has always shown to Jackson.
Chris Brown has been dealing with a few legal issues since last month
The Black-ish star has a long history of being involved with different legal problems. The list expanded once again after he was accused of assault by four people who attended his concert at the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas on July 19, 2024.
The victims, identified as Larry Parker, Joseph Lewis, Charles Bush, and Damarcus Powell, claimed in the lawsuit that they were reportedly attacked backstage without any reason after the show. The incident happened at the VIP area and Charles was the first person who went to greet Brown.
However, a crew member of Chris Brown reportedly shouted, claiming that he had a dispute with Charles in the past and Chris immediately ordered his entourage to attack the group. The entire group allegedly had to undergo treatment for their injuries.
The legal documents stated that Chris Brown and his entourage were allegedly "kicking, stomping, and beating" the four individuals.
"The unprovoked violence included multiple strikes to the Plantiffs' heads and chests, and ultimately involved stomping them while they were down. The brutal, violent assault participated in and directed by Brown, severely injured all Plaintiffs."
The lawsuit is seeking $50 million in compensatory and punitive damages. Attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents the victims, said in a statement that everyone needs to follow the law in Texas and that "unprovoked violence" should never be encouraged.
