DJ Akademiks addressed NBA YoungBoy’s April arrest in a recent livestream. The former opined that not only police officers but a SWAT team were also involved in the rapper's arrest because of his alleged gun collection. Currently, the musician remains incarcerated in the Weber County Jail as he awaits trial.
NBA YoungBoy is being investigated in two cases, including a federal drug and a prescription drug case as well. The 24-year-old was arrested earlier this year on suspicion of dozens of drugs related to a fraudulent prescription operation he has been accused of leading from his Huntsville, Utah, residence. He is also facing gun charges related to the ownership of a.45-caliber Glock and a 9mm handgun.
Addressing the rapper’s shocking arrest at his Huntsville mansion, DJ Akademiks said in an August 20, 2024 livestream:
“Remember I told you, he got a militia up there right? When they to go arrest him, they had to go with SWAT. All types of agencies because, again, not that this would happen, but technically, YB had enough firepower on the Goddamn mountain to do a nice ol’ standoff. Barricade or not, and probably would do decently in a shootout versus just regular police.”
A few of the charges NBA YoungBoy was arrested under on April 16 include identity theft, possession of other controlled substances, pattern of unlawful activity, procuring or attempting to procure drug possession, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person.
NBA YoungBoy was denied bail at the time of his arrest. However, a judge set a bail amount later on.
What has been going on in NBA YoungBoy’s criminal case? Details revealed as DJ Akademiks opines on his arrest
Rapper NBA YoungBoy, whose real name is Kentrell Gaulden, agreed to having his federal gun case moved to Utah from Louisiana. He remains in jail. If he is found guilty in his federal gun case, he will face up to 10 years in prison.
In May, a judge set the bail amount of $100,000 for the musician, who faced nearly 50 charges after a search warrant into his Utah home was executed. This occurred after he was accused of fraudulently getting drugs from several Utah pharmacies. The singer allegedly went to the extent of pretending to be an older woman to a sheriff’s deputy after one of his prescription orders was put on hold by a pharmacy. The arresting deputy commented at the time,
“It was clearly that a fake voice was being used… sounded as though she was a much younger male from the Southern states.”
His federal gun case dates back to 2020 when Baton Rouge law enforcement officials found the rapper and several members present with him carrying multiple weapons at a music video shoot. The police managed to catch them after being tipped off by an unknown party.
The trial dates for the cases against him are not set at the time of writing this article.
NBA YoungBoy attained fame after achieving four No. 1 spots on the Billboard 200 album chart and one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 Top-10 list. A few of his popular songs include 38 Baby, Outside Today, and Wusyaname, among others.
