Rapper Boosie Badazz (real name Torence Ivy Hatch) recently gifted his manager an LGBTQ-themed necklace for Christmas. On Wednesday, December 25, 2024, the manager took to his Instagram (user @1saturdays) to share a video showing off the gift, with the caption:
"Boosie asked what I wanted for Christmas, and I said something to represent the LGBTQ community… This is what I got. @boosieig2024 @sunythejeweler #ChristmasWithPride #Diamondsare4Ever #LGBTQLove."
The jewelry featured several colorful gems surrounded by diamonds, paying homage to the LGBTQ flag.
As the post went viral, internet users were quick to comment. On wrote:
"He aint't got a problem with gays he said this plenty times, he hust don't like how they tryna push it on the kids.."
Many praised Boosie for his maturing since the controversy with his lesbian daughter (he made homophobic comments). Here are some comments seen under @spadetvofficial's post on X:
Others claimed this was done as a PR stunt.
"I don't want her to contaminate her other six, seven sisters"- Boosie Badazz about his daughter
Boosie Badazz's recent post comes just months after the rapper expressed regret over his comments about his daughter's s*xuality. In February 2023, Boosie's daughter, Poison Ivi, introduced her girlfriend on Instagram.
During his interview on VladTV (February 23, 2023), the rapper explained that while he loved Ivy and accepted her, they were raised in a Southern Baptist household. Stating that it "won't be accepted," Torence remarked:
"I don’t want to think anyone in my family to think it’s okay."
Per a September 2024 article by XXL Magazine, Boosie Badazz, during his appearance on Yung Miami's Caresha Please! podcast, explained that he doesn't allow Ivi to bring her partner home. He reasoned:
"I don't want it to contaminate her other... It's a generation we raising. I don't want her to contaminate her other six, seven sisters who look up to her."
The rapper added that he wanted his kids to "bring (him) grandchildren the right way."
Boosie's comments were met with backlash from both the internet and his daughter. Per the publication, Poison Ivi soon hopped on her Instagram Live to address the situation.
"You s*ck, bruh. And I know you suck with that cause you'd rather go to the internet and have a conversation with the internet about your kids before you come to us and have that conversation."
Ivi also noted that her father was "bad" and that she had no plans to disrespect him. She expressed her frustration at his comments, adding that she never "downplayed" his beliefs.
A day later, Boosie Badazz took to his Instagram stories to dedicate posts to his daughter, asserting that he loved all his kids and was a "good father." He added that he "never meant to hurt" Ivi.
This was not the first time Boosie Badazz came under scrutiny for his homophobic comments. Back in July 2021, the rapper went on an anti-LGBTQ rant on Instagram Live, which included comments about Lil Nas X. According to an article by Complex (July 2021), at one point during his rant, the rapper remarked he would "drag" and "beat" his "a**."
According to an October 2021 report by NBC News, Boosie Badazz shared a tweet (taken down for violating hate speech laws), stating that Lil Nas X would do the "world a huge favor" by committing suicide.
