Chris Brown has been trending online after his mother Joyce Hawkins posted a picture on July 10, 2024, featuring the singer with his father Clinton. The photo shows that the duo had smiles on their faces and Chris can be spotted putting his head on his father's shoulder. The caption reads:
"This makes me smile!! Love to see yall together!!"
Chris and Clinton were spotted wearing T-shirts in the photo and it has received more than 50,000 reactions until now. Apart from Chris, Joyce and Clinton are the parents of another child named Lytrell Bundy.
While the picture has gone viral on different platforms, netizens took to the comments section of The Shade Room's social media post to react to the photo. One of them reads:
"He just turned to a little boy with that smile with his dad [heart emojis] I love it."
People also praised Chris Brown's bonding with Clinton, with a user reaction saying that "every child needs their father." Another person wrote that Chris once addressed his father in a documentary titled Welcome to My Life, saying that Clinton "was a good father to him."
Also known as Christopher Maurice Brown, his last album was 11:11, which came out last year. It reached the 9th spot on the US Billboard 200 and had 22 songs in the soundtrack.
Chris Brown's parents ensured to stay close to their children after divorce
Clinton Brown and Joyce Hawkins, parents of Chris and Lytrell, separated many years ago but continued to care for their children. Joyce mentioned in the show Welcome to My Life that Chris struggled with their divorce and had to grow up faster because he lacked a father figure.
Hawkins continued by saying:
"He felt like he had to take care of me. 'I gotta take care of my mom because my dad is not there. I'm the dad of the house' … that's how he thought and that's actually what he said."
Clinton and Joyce also showcased their support towards Chris Brown when he was accused of assaulting and threatening his former partner, Rihanna, in 2009. The pair spoke to People magazine at the time, with Clinton saying that Chris would be fine and the incident would help him to learn a lot of things.
Furthermore, Joyce claimed that she never saw Chris Brown getting involved in any kind of violent acts over the years and added:
"I explained to him that in no way [was] what he did right or acceptable. And I just explained to him that if something of this magnitude ever happened again … walk away."
Clinton was employed at a gas station in the beginning and later joined a local prison as a correctional officer. Joyce, on the other hand, was a director of a Tappanhannock-based daycare facility.
