DJ Flex recently accused former rapper and politician Shyne, whose real name is Moses Michael Levi Barrow, of lying about his innocence in the 1999 club shooting with Bad Boy Records founder Diddy. In the trailer for his upcoming Hulu documentary The Honorable Shyne, Barrow claimed he was "absolutely set up to be the fall guy" for the shooting, resulting in a 10-year prison sentence.

On October 26, DJ Flex criticized Barrow for absolving himself from the club shootout, calling him a "stone cold-faced liar." In a clip shared by The Art of Dialogue on X, Flex said:

"When somebody tries to say they the scapegoat or they was used… it's been bothering me. And I'm gonna keep it a buck. Shyne, I love you bro, and I know what you've been though—no I don't—but you're a liar. You're a stone-cold faced liar, Shyne."

DJ Flex's diatribe against Barrow was met with mixed response from netizens. Many were critical of Flex seemingly siding with Diddy in light of the rapper's arrest on s*x trafficking charges. Some X users alleged that Flex was on the "freak off" tapes, tweeting:

"Lmaoo he crashing out for Diddy … He MOST DEFINITELY on them tapes."

Many agreed with the sentiment, wondering if Diddy had something on Flex for him to ardently support the Bad Boy Records founder.

"Flex was at them freak offs," one person tweeted.
"Dude always capping for Diddy. I wonder what Diddy has on him," another person added.
"Flex running around defending the Epstein of Music? You know, one or two allegations may or may not be fake. But, over a 100? Plus the girl you were with? And the documents are in public, with pictures, dates, and times? Flex is mad sus for this. Mad sus," someone else commented.

Others referenced Natania Reuben, one of the victims of the 1999 New York club shootout, who alleged that Diddy shot her.

"The woman who was actually shot has said on camera that diddy shot her, so wtf is this dude talking about," one person commented.
"The Natania Reuben interview which I assume you are low key promoting here, tells you all you need to know," someone else added.
"Meanwhile the woman who was shot said it was Puff who shot her since day one……" another netizen tweeted.

However, some agreed with Flex, alleging Diddy paid Barrow to take the fall for him, and he agreed.

"I have never in life agreed with funk flex till now shyne agreed to take his lick and got paid well once he came home," someone tweeted.
"Flex right on this," another person wrote.

"I wanted to spit in your face" — DJ Flex about Shyne's upcoming documentary

On October 26, DJ Flex criticized Shyne on his Hot 97 radio show after the latter alleged he was made to take the blame for the 1999 club shootout. For the unversed, Diddy, his then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopex, Barrow, and Diddy's bodyguard, Anthony Wolf, were at Club New York in 1999 when an altercation allegedly broke out between Diddy's party and other clubgoers.

The fight resulted in gunfire that left three injured. Diddy and others fled the scene via a car but were stopped by the police, who found a firearm in the vehicle. All four were arrested. While Lopez was let go, the other three faced gun possession charges, with a trial in 2001.

Diddy and his bodyguard were acquitted. However, Barrow received a 10-year sentence for gun possession and other charges. Following his release in 2009, he retired from rap and became a politician in Belize, his native country.

On October 21, Hulu uploaded the trailer for his upcoming documentary, in which the former rapper alleged he was made to be the fall guy in the shooting.

DJ Flex talked about the trailer on October 26 and said he wanted to "spit in his (Shyne's) face" when he saw it.

"If none of you veterans are gonna check this bozo, I'm gonna check him. I saw that trailer to Shyne's documentary, and everybody sitting in it wanted to spit in Shyne's face. I don't care what friends I lose tonight, everybody sitting in that doc wanted to spit in your face, Shyne. I wanted to spit in your face."

He also alleged the former rapper was a punk, claiming Diddy stopped people from beating him to death. He also insinuated that Barrow was famous solely because he sounded like Biggie Smalls, and people were looking to fill the void the East Coast rapper left after he died in 1997.

The Honorable Shyne will stream on Hulu on November 18.
