During his demonstration, he is seen playing fearlessly with the swamp beast, teasing it with food. At one point, he even plants a kiss on the alligator's nose.

To curb the audience's confusion, Lana Del Rey's husband joked that his ex-wife was food for the alligator:

"Me and him [alligator] have been pretty tight ever since I fed him my ex-wife. I've been messing with this guy for a long time."

Netizens took to X to post their reactions on the same. While some criticized the alleged insensitivity of the joke, others saw the lighter side.

Many users compared the incident with the infamous disappearance of Tiger King star Carole Baskin's husband, Don Lewis. On August 18, 1997, Lewis disappeared after leaving his home in Tampa, Florida. He was legally declared dead in 2002 after years' worth of investigation.

His mysterious disappearance was covered in two seasons of Tiger King. Many conspiracy theories alleged that he was fed to the tigers in Wildlife on Easy Street sanctuary by his wife, Carole Baskin.

As per The New York Post, in 2021, Don Lewis was found alive and in good health in Costa Rica. Despite the popularity of Tiger King, which focussed on Lewis' disappearance over two seasons, the news took over two decades to surface. Referencing the above case, an X user commented:

"He probably Carole Baskin’d her for real."

However, not all users saw the funny side of the quip. Many criticized Lana Del Rey's husband.

"Stop switching vehicles following the family- stop following us around remote parts of the country and photo shopping my wedding ring into a pearl- I know we would feel a lot safer."
