Rapper and record producer Master P has recently expressed his support for Lil Wayne, saying that he should perform at the upcoming Super Bowl halftime show scheduled in New Orleans in February 2025. Notably, Kendrick Lamar would be the headliner at the event.
Master P shared an Instagram post on September 8, 2024, where he started by addressing Kendrick's performance at the Super Bowl, saying that he deserves the opportunity. Furthermore, he even described the latter as "one of the hottest music artists in the world" and continued:
"As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi and #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well. He's one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant and he's a New Orleans native."
Also known as Percy Robert Miller Sr., he stated that Lil Wayne's performance was a "cultural moment", adding that the popular faces from New Orleans must be appreciated by everyone.
The comments section of the post was flooded with different responses, with a few saying that Lamar was not the wrong choice as the headliner. Another person stated that Kendrick would pursue Wayne to perform at Super Bowl but it remains to be seen if Lil would accept the invitation.
On the other hand, Lil Wayne's fans were frustrated when Lamar announced through Instagram with a video that he had been chosen as the headliner for the Super Bowl halftime show. Wayne's supporters believed that he should have been selected instead of Lamar and the former's engineer Fabian Marasciullo addressed the same on his Instagram Story by writing:
"Confused. Disappointed. Angry. But most of all, inspired. Will never again be in a position or have the [goat] in a position where we are at the mercy of someone else's decision. We will make the decisions."
Lil Wayne has two albums in the upcoming lineup
Also known as Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., his last major project was Funeral, which was released back in 2020. While people are eagerly waiting for the arrival of Wayne's next big album, he recently provided an update about the same.
The first in the list is Tha Carter VI and Lil revealed on September 4 that it is complete. The rapper shared a video through Instagram where he was spotted sitting inside the studio and said:
"Just finished working on a couple of features. I would tell y'all who it is, but you know I wouldn't do that and f*ck it up. Shout out to those artists…family. Just wanted to say, 'Good morning, and how the f*ck are you doing?' If you're not up, you're down. And if you're down, I'm here to pick you up."
However, a release date for the album is yet to be confirmed by Lil Wayne. While he stated that the project was ready, he said jokingly:
"I was lying. I'm working on Carter XXVI. I think you already know that."
Apart from this, the Annhilate star has another album on the list, titled I Am Not a Human Being III. However, Lil Wayne has yet to reveal more about the project and it was announced by him during a conversation on Instagram Live with entrepreneur Brett Berish in 2020.
