Drake makes a surprise release of a trio of tracks through his alternate Instagram account, @plottttwistttttt, on Friday, August 23, 2024. The release came weeks after the first three leaked songs came out earlier in the month.
The latest three-pack "leak" includes the songs, Circadian Rhythm, SOD, and No Face. SOD appears to be the solo version of the rapper's Super Soak record that Kai Cenat played during his live in August. However, Yachty's part was completely removed from the version shared on Friday.
After fans heard the latest rollout of Drake's unreleased songs, many took to social media to call him out for seemingly testing his new songs on social media before releasing them. An X user claimed that leaking the songs made it seem like the singer was "scared of public opinion."
"The way he's going about dropping these songs makes it look like he's scared of public opinion so he has to leak and see if we fw it," a fan on X commented.
Other fans also shared their opinions on the Toronto rapper's cryptic rollouts and leaks. While some said that leaking songs seemed like the rapper was looking for a "good excuse for not charting well," others called it a "test run" to find out what fans liked.
"This is sad at this point. The confidence is gone. I would respect Drake a lot if he just released his songs immediately on DSPs but he gotta test run and see the temperature. He also wants a good excuse for not charting well. "He leaked it remember" I can see the excuses," a fan chimed in.
Throwing everything against the wall to see what sticks," another fan on X wrote.
"Why is he leaking his own songs? Kendrick got him scared so he's trying to gauge public opinion before dropping the tracks on DSPs. Pathetic move," another one wrote.
However, some fans were grateful to get some music from the rapper and discussed their favorites from the three tracks he released.
"That SOD track wavy and the best one out of the 3," a fan mentioned on X.
"No face is dope. Everything else is meh tho," another fan pointed out.
Drake reportedly leaked three of his unreleased songs earlier in August
Drake released three tracks as part of the massive content drop on the 100 Gigs on August 6, 2024. This included tour set designs, behind-the-scenes footage, and video clips from the studio.
The unreleased music included his song with Young Thug and 21 Savage, It's Up, and Blue Green Red, and another song, Housekeeping Knows, featuring Latto. He also released the same tracks via his burner IG account several days later.
The three tracks hit streaming platforms and debuted on this week's Billboard Hot 100, with It's Up at #28, Blue Green Red at #63, and Housekeeping Knows at #85.
Among the interesting parts of the content drop were the alternate cover art the Toronto rapper had initially thought of using for some of his albums. This included the art for For All The Dogs and Certified Lover Boy. There was also Drake's unreleased cover of the 2020 Dark Lane Demo Tapes mixtape, which was initially titled Care Package 2.
