American rapper and songwriter Sauce Walka accused fellow rapper Drake of using Houston's culture for his own benefit. Walka appeared for an episode of The Breakfast Club on YouTube on August 13, where he discussed the issue.
Speaking about the God's Plan singer, Walka questioned why Drizzy hasn't collaborated with several Houston artists, as he did with Atlanta artists, alleging that the rapper has been utilizing Houston's culture to increase his fame.
Walka was seemingly referring to the One Dance singer’s collaboration with Atlanta-based musicians like Future, Young Thug, and Gunna.
Once the video of the interview went viral, netizens took to X to react. Most of the internet users supported Drizzy and sympathized with him. A fan reacted to the video shared by @ArtOfDialogue_:
“This the reason why Drake is number 1… he’s the topic of conversation 99% of the time. When was the last time the whole industry was talking about the midget if beef ain’t involved. Ask yourself that.”
Other netizens also reacted in a similar way.
“It gotta be tiring to be Drake. Everyone got a say in what you should do and mad about what you didn’t do for them,” someone else pointed out.
“.... [The Family Matters rapper] has shown support for Houston his entire career, it’s essentially where his career started. Y’all saying he stealing Houston culture but Drake was nervous about this exact same thing and y’all still accepted him,” another one said supporting the rapper.
“So Drake help Atlanta it’s “he a vulture, biting off the black community to come up” If he don’t help Houston enough is “ you should be putting people on and bringing them up” GIVE IT A REST,” said another one.
However, many users supported Walka’s statement and criticized the Rich Babby Daddy rapper.
“Drake is a fraud. he runs with those who gon benefit him. he's using houston as reference or to be relevant as being black. besides that, he's just another white boy from toronto,” one X user said.
“Kendrick said it,” another one claimed.
“Spot on… Houston has a very big underground music scene,” another X user said.
Sauce Walka claimed that there wouldn’t be any Drake without Houston
Sauce Walka appeared on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday, where he alleged that the Family Matters singer doesn’t have any respect for their Houston culture. He said:
"A ni*ga using our culture for lyrical content, and ain’t giving sh*t back but a family fun day and some money to some h*es he tricking on in the club. This bi*tcha*s ni*ga make music with artists from everywhere but Houston."
He further added:
“It's not f*cking rocket science…. If you in this city and you saying like what you just said, you just said that it wouldn't be no, it wouldn't be no Drake without Houston… So at the time, why did Drake not and still to this day, why did Drake not have no bunch of records with Houston artists?”
“You aren't doing that with Eleanta. If you love Leanta and he got it's seven, eight, nine, fifteen artists that you got songs with in Atleanta, because why not only does it not only does you know that the city of Atleanta was gonna look at you weird for not doing that, look at you and feel a certain type of way by you by you not making those I was making those moments with the city.”
After that, Sauce expressed his desire for Drizzy to support and elevate the less-known artists. Walka thought that if he achieved it, more significant music festivals, such as Rolling Roud, would also visit the city.
The Ghetto Gospel singer went on to discuss his newest project, Saucefather 2, his views on women, and the effects of social media. He also talked about his experiences living on the streets as well.
As of now, Drizzy has not commented on these accusations.
