Lil Uzi Vert is reportedly gearing up for the release of another album, following the release of Eternal Atake 2, which was dropped as the official sequel to their 2020 sophomore studio album Eternal Atake.
Not long after Eternal Atake 2 was released, fan rumors began to surface suggesting the album was released in an attempt to satisfy Lil Uzi's contractual obligations to his record label Atlantic Records.
Today (December 1), clips from a DJ Akademiks' livestream began to go viral across social media after he reportedly claimed that Uzi was working on an untitled new album.
Akademiks suggested that Eternal Atake 2 should not be considered Lil Uzi Vert's "real album," claiming the rapper wished to release a new project after satisfying his deal with Atlantic Records.
Fans took to reposts from media outlets like NFR Podcast, on X to share their opinion on Uzi's intention to release a new album, with one user claiming the rapper has made similar public statements in the past.
"He says this after every project now"
More reactions followed with users seemingly poking fun at Lil Uzi Vert and his discography.
"After Pink Tape and EA2 he’s sadly washed," a user claimed.
"He said this after pink tape as well," a fan stated.
"N***a flopped so he trying to cover it up," another claimed.
Several reactions seemingly dismissed DJ Akademik's statements regarding Lil Uzi's intention of dropping a new album.
"Saw "via Akademiks" and disregarded everything else," a user stated.
"Ight lmk when Uzi drops that real album," a user jokingly remarked.
A few were found claiming that DJ Akademiks' statementscould be trusted, with one user suggesting that Uzi will "1000%" release a follow-up to Eternal Atake 2.
"Yea cause we know he has the real track list and dropped a test album or some sh*t," a fan claimed.
"Lol 1000% believe this, Uzi so insecure when it comes to criticism he can’t let that sh*t sit for too long," added another.
"The one he just dropped was to get off of Atlantic" - DJ Akademiks on Lil Uzi Vert potentially dropping a new album
DJ Akademiks shared a report last week, via a repost of his livestream, where he claims that Lil Uzi Vert will reportedly drop a follow-up to November's Eternal Atake 2.
When speaking to his audience, in-chat, the streamer hinted at a new album from the 29-year-old rapper, explaining:
"I heard Uzi got an album that is hotter than fish grease, but the one he just dropped was to get off of Atlantic"
While Akademiks doesn't confirm his sources, he does appear to suggest how Uzi's new project is better than Eternal Atake 2, which hosted 16 full-length records and a solo feature from rapper Big Time Rush on The Rush.
According to Akademiks, Lil Uzi Vert intentionally released Eternal Atake 2 and withheld his "real album," because he wasn't happy with his label contract with Atlantic Records, stating:
"They said Uzi's real album... and he knows it, he just didn't wanna drop it with these f**k n****s, so he held the whole sh*t. He made some other sh*t for them n****s."
Uzi's Eternal Atake 2 did receive a lot of criticism upon its release, with Pitchfork giving it a 4.7/10 rating and claiming the album was a "remarkably safe sequel" to Eternal Atake.
However, Eternal Atake 2's commercial performance was highly praised by fans after the LP debuted at No.3 on Billboard 200, selling 59,000 album-equivalent units in its first week. The project reportedly generated over 76 million on-demand audio streams across major DSPs.
In a November 1 interview with Rolling Stones, Lil Uzi Vert dismissed critics who were suggesting he was lying about working on music. The rapper claimed to already be "on go" for plans regarding future projects.
