G-Unit mogul and rapper 50 Cent recently claimed that Jay Z, aka Hov, has been treated favorably because of his 'marriage contract' with Beyonce. The couple has been married since 2008.
In an interview on the Flagrant podcast dated December 16, 50 Cent claimed Jay Z has been "treated differently" due to his marriage to Beyonce. The G-Unit mogul attributed Hov's Grammy wins to his wife and said:
“When Jay signed his contract, the big one was with Beyonce. When he signed that contract, the marriage contract, he got trophies. Now those f*cking trophies came rolling in buddy. He started getting Grammys left and right. If you look at his career, he had one. He got like 20 now. He’s been treated differently.”
50 Cent further claimed that Hov has been seen as the "biggest" in business and a family man "because of the position Beyonce's in." Cent was also questioned about whether Hov is involved with the recent accusations against Sean Diddy Combs. However, the rapper declined to comment, claiming one is "snitching" no matter how they answer it.
Jay Z and Beyonce's relationship dates back to 2000 when they first met. After dating for several years, the couple tied the knot in 2008 and have been together ever since. They share three children: Blue Ivy, born in 2012, and twins Rumi and Sir, born in 2017. The couple has also collaborated professionally on multiple occasions.
50 Cent mocks Jay Z amid recent r*pe allegations against the Roc Nation founder
In a lawsuit dated December 8, 2024, Roc Nation founder and rapper Jay Z was accused of the alleged r*pe of a 13-year-old alongside his longtime associate, Sean Diddy Combs, in 2000.
An unnamed woman, who filed the aforementioned lawsuit, told NBC News earlier this month that Jay and Combs allegedly r**ed and s**ually assaulted her at an afterparty of the MTV Music Awards. The anonymous victim claimed to have been 13 years old at that time.
Hov made his first public appearance alongside his family since the lawsuit on December 9, 2024. Jay Z, Beyonce, his mother-in-law Tina Knowles Carter, and their 12-year-old daughter Blue Ivy posed for the paparazzi at the premiere of the upcoming film, Mufasa: The Lion King. Hov's daughter Blue Ivy stars as the voice actor for the character of Kiara in the live-action film.
Shortly after Jay Z walked the red carpet of Mufasa: The Lion King, 50 Cent took to Instagram to mock the rapper in a since-deleted post. He shared an image of Hov with his family and wrote:
"Jay said they said I rapped [sic] a kid, everybody get dressed we going to see Mufasa LOL."
Cent took another supposed dig at Jay Z as he wrote another post on his Instagram account referencing the Super Bowl. The G-Unit mogul wrote:
"Ok I don’t know what’s going on, but are we gonna still have the Super Bowl. I’m just asking for a friend.”
For those uninformed, Hov's company, Roc Nation, has been involved in organizing the Super Bowl's halftime show since 2020. The Super Bowl is set to take place in New Orleans in February 2025 with Kendrick Lamar roped in to headline the halftime show.
In a conversation on the Big Boy TV podcast on the same day (December 9), 50 Cent explained his supposed dig on the matter and said:
“I’m just asking for Kendrick. I’m just trying to figure out if we’re still doing everything. They will fall back, the NFL … they won’t necessarily be associated with that [Jay's accusations].”
Jay Z, meanwhile, has denied the allegations against him in an official statement given to US Weekly on December 8. In his statement, the rapper mentioned his wife, Beyonce, and their three children, claiming the "only heartbreak" is for his family.
“My wife and I will have to sit our children down, one of whom is at the age where her friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims, and explain the cruelty and greed of people. I mourn yet another loss of innocence. Children should not have to endure such at their young age. It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice meant to destroy families and human spirit.”
Jay also directed his statement towards Tony Buzbee, the Texas attorney who filed the lawsuit accusing him of s**ual assault. The initial filing reportedly dated back to October and only cited Diddy's alleged involvement. Hov accused Buzbee of "exploiting people for personal gain" and claimed the allegations were "idiotic claims" and "heinous."
Jay Z is yet to be charged with any of the allegations.
