Days before TikTok’s potential ban in the United States of America, social media users were surprised to see Bob Dylan join the platform. Just after joining, Dylan posted a video on the platform, showcasing several of his songs, including Like a Rolling Stone, Knocking on Heaven’s Door, and Hurricane.

Posting his only video so far, Bob Dylan wrote in the caption:

“Explore the world of Bob Dylan, now on TikTok.”

As soon as netizens noticed the presence of Bob Dylan on the platform, many were left amused, as they pointed out the timing of him joining the platform, as the social media users pointed out that the platform could shut in the country in just a few days.

An X page, @PopCrave posted about the same on the platform, and a user commented:

Others also poured in hilarious responses and wrote:

“A little late for that don’t you think…” wrote a netizen.
“Just when it’s about to be banned???” added another.
“Arriving fashionably late as usual,” stated another X user on the post.

Many also compared it to jumping on the Titanic just after it hit the iceberg.

“This is like jumping onto the Titanic after it already hit the iceberg,” wrote one X user on the post.
“Lol that's like walking into a sit down restaurant 5 minutes before it closes,” stated another.

It is also worth noting that as soon as Bob joined TikTok, he gained close to 12,000 followers in just a day, while his first post received thousands of likes and comments from his fans.

TikTok to likely face a ban amidst the 19th January deadline- More details explored as Bob Dylan joins the platform

The Supreme Court gave January 19, 2025, as a deadline for the platform, stating that it would continue working in the country only if it decided to sell its US operations.

Several publications, like Bloomberg, reported that Elon Musk, the CEO of X, has proposed to buy the platform, and TikTok has been actively thinking about the same. However, on January 13, 2025, TikTok’s spokesperson gave a statement to BBC and denied the rumor by calling it “pure fiction.”

On the other hand, Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary has also shown his willingness to purchase the platform; however, the Chinese company has not responded yet. Hence, the future of the application and the influencers earning their livelihood out of the platform remain uncertain.
