Amid the chaos caused by the presidential election campaigns, rapper Lil Pump took to X on July 29, 2024, and shared a photo with Donald Trump. Pump further wrote about Kamala Harris in the tweet, where he mentioned that Harris wasn't Black and was, in fact, Indian. In the tweet, he wrote,
"Kamala Harris isn’t even black… she’s Indian. She locked up over 1,500 people for weed related crimes and then laughed about it years later. The worst VP in American History..."
Several netizens then flooded X, reacting to the tweet made by Lil Pump. While some questioned if he was paid to post the tweet, some gave a background of Harris' parents. Here are some of the reactions on X, formerly known as Twitter:
"Her father is from Jamaica and of African descent." one user wrote on X.
One user called Pump out and wrote,
"'Kamala Harris isn’t even black' sir you are Colombian."
"Can someone do some investigative journalism to find out how much he payin these people 😭💀," wrote another user.
"As if donald trump and his party would ever legalize weed," read a tweet.
While several tweets called the rapper out, many users agreed to him and extended support to former President Donald Trump. One user wrote on X,
"Thank you @lilpump for being willing to speak out!!"
"Some hot truth," read another tweet.
Lil Pump had previously gone viral for his support for Donald Trump
This wasn't the first time that rapper Lil Pump garnered public attention on the internet while endorsing Donald Trump. Earlier this year, he decided to get a tattoo of a mugshot of Trump on his thigh, possibly to extend support to the former President.
While many netizens tagged the tattoo to be "cringe", Pump didn't seem to have much problem with it. He, however, wiped his Instagram feed later, sometime after going viral for the tattoo.
The rapper had been a long-time admirer of Trump. He was also responsible for popularizing the "We Want Trump" chant amongst students at the University of Mississippi when he held a concert there in October 2023.
The tattoo went quite viral and the rapper shared its photos on his Instagram stories as well for his millions of followers to see. Back in 2020, he participated in one of Trump's rallies, which was held in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
In the rally, Trump, however, mistakenly addressed him as "Lil Pimp." Despite getting mocked about it, the rapper didn't change his stance and political inclination. Pump said during the rally,
"Hello everybody, how y'all feeling? I've come here to say, Mr. President, I appreciate everything you've done for our country. You brought the troops home and you're doing the right thing. MAGA 20/20/20. Don't forget that! And do not vote for Sleepy Joe [referring to Biden] at all!"
In the same rally, Trump further described him as "one of the big superstars of the world." Recently, after the assassination attempt on Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania, Lil Pump was one of the many celebrities who reacted to it and sent him good wishes. Before the Presidential debate held on June 27, Pump again took to X and wrote,
"Debate tonight! Hoping Biden doesn’t get lost on his way to the stage. Betting Biden will forget what office he’s running for. #Maga #Trump202024 @realDonaldTrump."
Lil Pump is, however, not the only name in the hip-hop industry who is supporting former President Donald Trump in the upcoming elections. The list reportedly includes several other hip-hop artists like Sexyy Red, Chief Keef, Kodak Black, Benny The Butcher, Azealia Banks, and OT7 Quanny.
