The Fulton County Medical Examiner confirmed the death to media outlets and informed the autopsy will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024.

“On Thursday, 5 September 2024, the Fulton County Medical Examiner was notified by Grady Memorial Hospital of the death of Dequantes Devontay Lamar. An autopsy has been scheduled for Friday, 6 September 2024,” a statement from the coroner's office read.

People noticed that Young Thug looked sombre at the trial on September 5, which is live streamed. Many speculated if the rapper's sad disposition was due to the news of Quan's death, with one person tweeting:
