Megan Thee Stallion receiving zero Grammy nominations this year has caused quite a stir on the internet. On Friday, November 8, the nominees for the 2025 Grammy Awards were announced and the Houston rapper was one of the several notable absentees.
Megan Thee Stallion has had a successful year with the release of her third studio album called Megan. It was a commercial chartbuster, debuting at number three on the US Billboard 200 with 64,000 album-equivalent units earned. To promote Megan, the rapper embarked on her first headlining concert tour called Hot Girl Summer Tour.
Cobra, Boa, Hiss, and Mamushi were the four hit singles from the album. While all singles peaked inside the top 40 in the United States, Hiss went on to become Thee Stallion's first solo number-one hit on the US Billboard Hot 100.
Fans on social media were quick to pen down their reactions on X after the Grammy nominees were announced. Some popular reactions were as follows:
"HISS not being nominated is just weird," a fan wrote on X.
"Idc whose side you’re on but you’re lying if you say HISS didn’t deserve to be nominated. Especially over some of those other ones like Carnival," another agreed.
"Regardless if you like her or not, she’s released two albums with incredible visuals and deserved a nomination," one fan opined.
"HISS?? WANNA BE?? MAMUSHI?? This is acc insane," another user declared on X.
Many fans, meanwhile, alluded to Megan Thee Stallion's beef with Nicki Minaj.
"Snubbed? Please… the highlight of the entire year was dissing Nicki then her album flopping. She didn’t get snubbed, she just released terrible music," one fan commented.
"I don’t know why barbz are laughing when nicki has 0 nominations and 0 Grammys total," another fan chimed in.
Some other reactions from fans are as follows:
"Both of her albums were really good I can’t believe they snubbed my girl. She always working tho I’m sure she’ll get more next year & she has Grammys already a lot of ppl can’t even say that," one netizen announced.
"Megan Thee Stallion getting zero GRAMMY nominations this year is a major snub, especially considering her impact on the music scene. It’s tough to see an artist who has worked so hard and delivered hits left out of the major categories," another user opined.
"That’s crazy. hiss was huge. i’m not even a fan and i can see this was dirty work," one user inferred on X.
In addition to Megan Thee Stallion, Dua Lipa, Dolly Parton, BTS members Jung Kook and RM, Nicki Minaj, Justin Timberlake, Lenny Kravitz, and Luke Combs were some of the other big names whose major works this year did not get nominated for the Grammys.
